I gotta say.... I am not doing so good. Feeling very regretful of this, and needing some words of encouragement, I hope it all gets better...

VVV, I was sleeved on 8/25 and I regretted it for about two days after. I was in pain. It does get better. You start to realize what gives you gas, what you can tolerate and what to avoid. I've learned everything except broth makes me gassy. Lol. TMI.

Each day will get better. You had major surgery. Your body needs to heal itself. You've been through a trauma. But, you took the first major step in getting the surgery. Keep your chin up.

I also had my sleeve in August 25th. I have had nothing but issues. I am sorry to say. Just know you are not alone. I have followed the plan to a T. I LOST 60 pounds since May 31st on my own with diet and exercise. Since my surgery on August 25th I have gained 7 pounds. I have only had Water and Protein Drinks. I don't understand what is going on. I watched these forums for months before my surgery and I didn't see any posts like this until after I had my surgery. I just don't get it!

Don't be a slave to the scale. You're bloated, swollen and full of gas. Give it time. In a month, get on the scale and compare your weight. You should be pleasantly surprised.

Today is the first day I got on the scale since my surgery. I only weigh once a week. I learned not to weight every day since I started the dieting and exercise program in May. It seems like most of the gas should be gone from what has been going on I have passed a lot of gas (TMI) but I am just so discouraged. Shouldn't have any Water weight left either. Lol. I use the bathroom all the time. I hope you are right. I have a doctor appt next Wednesday. I guess I will stay off the scale until I have to get on the scale then, I sure hope I lose because I will be very depressed if I don't.

Love, your surgery was only four days ago. It takes time for your body to heal. I'm not a doctor, but I'm sure your gasses are still present. I have gas after drinking Water and it's been five days for me. It's a day by day thing. You have to view this as a tool for your new life, not a magic resolution.

I think I read on here others who weighed more after surgery than before. Let me see if I can find it.

I was sleeved 3 days ago and I know that is soon but should I continue with full liquids even though I have gas with everything... Even water! Does the gas from surgery take a while to get out of your system... I need some reassurance .

I had mine 3 days ago. The gas is totally normal but the more walking you do the better you will feel. Popsicles are so good! That makes it better for you so you don't have to just have broth and juice :)

They told me in order to leave the hospital, I had to pass gas. It took me a while but I was able to muster it. Once home, plenty of gas for the next couple days but now it's fading.

Oh I can so relate!! I had surgery 8/26 and was absolutely miserable. Even stayed in the hospital until late Friday due to complications. The barium liquid for the X-Ray had a nightmare result for me and I was extremely sick. Plus I still can't get a deep breath in. Now the shoulder pain has kicked in. I know it feels so frustrating and that light we saw at the end of the tunnel has dimmed, but I just tell myself it's baby steps. Anything worth having is worth the journey. You can do it!! Stay positive!!! (I know, easier said than done). Spoil yourself with naps, taking it easy, casual walks, and for me, sugar free Popsicles!! :-) Find the good in the little stuff. I'm with you!!! Best of luck!! xox

My sleeve was done on 8/26...I went home from the hospital on 8/27, that evening the gas pain really started. It was awful. The next day is was a little better, and by Friday it was very little. Saturday was good Sunday better and I feel great today 1week post op. I weighed myself the night I got home from the hospital just out of curiosity, and was up 7 lbs from before surgery. It's all the gas, Water weight and inflammation. It gets getter. Hang in there and follow the rules. I'm now down 16 lbs now since day of surgery. Having my Protein Shakes, broth, and a lot of water.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
