I compared a few brands and found Tribe hummus to be the best calorie wise. Olive oil is a healthy oil, but it's still an oil and can add a ton of calories to things. I imagine that was what the other poster was getting at. I was out to eat and ordered tomatoes and mozzarella...it was drenched in olive oil. I wasn't comfortable with that much oil and all of those calories.

So you don't eat it with olive oil ?

The amount true Arabic /Islamic restaraunts put on top can be a lot! There was a good 3-4 tablespoons

I freeze it in half tsp size balls and then eat it frozen as a finger food! Weird I know but started as a way to keep it from going bad in the fridge bc the rest of my family won't eat it. I also have a recepie for Choc chip "cookie dough" hummus! It adds Peanut Butter and a touch of maple Syrup and a few semi sweet Choc chips and tastes just like Cookie dough! Satisfies my sweet tooth!

I'm definitely going to try the cookie dough one. Sounds great! Thx :)

A slider food is any food that sits well with your sleeved tummy (or passes through the band easily). Not only can you eat it, but you can eat a lot of it in comparison to other foods that struggle to make there way down.

If you make your own (which is yummiest anyway), you can cut down on calories by substituting some or all of the chickpeas for cauliflower. Just do a quick google search for cauliflower hummus. You can add in some Protein powder too (for hummus, I like pumpkin seed Protein Powder, since it tastes like actual food).

This is the best standard hummus recipe I've ever used, just in terms of proportions and adding things in the correct order for the best texture:

Of course, the taste would be the same even if you threw everything into the food processor at once, but if you wanna make hummus that will really knock people's socks off, this is an awesome base recipe. You can add all sorts of stuff to it: more spices, more lemon juice, roasted garlic, etc. It's awesome. I get sooo many compliments on hummus and this recipe (as the base, anyway) is to thank for it.

I love hummus, homemade or store bought. Where I work we once had a blind taste test of all the brands (just for fun) and my homemade came in second!

But I think it's funny that a thread about hummus has 29 posts. Really, what is there to say? LOL.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
