Patty, sorry you are in such pain. I hope the gas gets better fast. I'm soooo happy for you, welcome to Bandland, it's almost as great as Disneyland, only with no rides or characters. :youcandothis: ~Mandy

Hey, it's me again,

Whew! Feeling much better cause I figured out how I could take loratab. I dilute it in a small juice glass and sip it, after I drink alittle shake to coat my stomache. I finally had a whole nights sleep! Walking is much better too! I feel well enough to be able to mix up some Jello and watching a movie later. Before I didn't feel well enough to concentrate that long. Still have a tiny bit of left shoulder pain, but rocking chair and heat pad does the trick. Tomorrow I want to see the kids, will call to invite them over. Everything is ducky :(

Congrats Patty!!! I have to say the shoulder pain was the absolute worst part of the surgery for me. It gets better day by day. :)

Hello Y'all!

Well, I feel much better, I went to the doctor today and had an Upper GI! All is well in bandland. So many people 2-4 years out are having problems, so I decided to have it checked out.

Patty - Glad to hear you are doing better. You'll be running around before you know it!

Mandy - I loved your quote there!

Darcy - I got a quote to put into the system today and the gal that signed it was Darcy! It made me think of you! I'll be glad when you get settled in your new place and you can play more often.

Pat - You need to get your bunns back here!

Eileen, Beanie, Sherry Chrispy, Deb, Cindy, and I know I must have missed someone, hello!

It's way past time for me to start supper, gotta run. I was cleaning my car and watering my flowers!

Hello, all!

Congrats, Patty! OH, how I remember those gas pains! They will get better. I also remember sleeping in 3 hour spurts! Stick with it...it sounds like you are doing great!

Deb, thanks for the clothes offer...I am already under that size, but I bet there are some people here who do wear those sizes, and will be happy to take you up on the offer!

Dianne, it's great to see you! Good luck to your DH!

Tomorrow I'm taking my nephew "grown up clothes" shopping, so it should be a fun day!

Hugs to all!

Cindy

Going to try to post while I can, for some reason every once and awhile I can get on , otherwise LBT is unavailale to me.....who knows!!!???

Patty---yea!!!! You made it to bandland, it will be SOOOOO worth it, you will be feeling much better and see the weight dropping fast very soon now----such an exciting time!!!

We took Rick to the specialist in Albuquerque yesterday, it was very informative, the visit took over 3 hours! He is still bouncing back and forth between Atrial flutter, and Atrial fibrillation. The options for his situation are few. Medications (several strong ones) along with blood thinners for life, or more surgical intervention. We went with the intervention to try to fix the problem as opposed to treating it. We go back to ABQ on June 12th for a day full of testing and info gathering. Then on the 13th they will do a surgical ablation. A form of cauterization inside the heart, in an attempt to stop the circular cylce of electrical impulses the heart is now sending. His blood instead of pumping in and back out, is flowing in a circle, unsure of where it needs to go. So they will cauterize areas, to cause scar tissue, and divert it, until it makes a proper path. They said it could take anywhere from minimally 3-4 hours, up to 12. They will be doing monitoring inside the heart the entire time. So.....we are hoping this will fix him up, and let him get on with his life.

I have not had a chance to fully read up on everyone----know I am thinking of you all though!!!!! And will be back whenever the stars align just right and my computer allows me!!!!!!!!

Kat: This procedure you describe, sounds amazing. Do you have a date for this? I just really want Ricks heart to work better. Thanks for the encouragement.

Wow, I am doing so much better! I got up at 8:30 this morning with just a bit of soreness. I want to imagine a painfree day.... not yet. I am not hungry but I'm thinking of adding a bit of Protein to a carnation instant Breakfast. I talked to Taylor yesterday and all the boys are going to visit me this afternoon. VERY EXCITED!!!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I even want to bake brownies for them. Don't worry, I won't be tempted, remember..... Me No like chocolate! Just happy!

Good going, Patty! Be sure to take it easy, and pay attention to healing. I know you will, but I have to say that!

Kat, thanks for the update on Rick. It sure sounds like an intricate surgery...it's amazing what they can do these days. Keep us all posted; I'm still praying, of course!

My nephew and I had a great day of shopping today...we got him all fixed up with slacks, dress shirts, ties, dress socks, dress shoes, etc...he even bought himself a suit! So, when he gets home from all his traveling this summer, he will be ready for interviews and his new life. Whatever that's going to be...

Tomorrow DH and I are going to my friend and neighbor's funeral. The visitation was tonight, but we didn't go to that...the funeral home was totally beyond packed; all the streets for two blocks surrounding it were lined on both sides with cars, and there was a line of people three/four wide all the way around the block to get in. He was extremely well liked here in town. I did see his wife yesterday. We just hugged each other for a while. I didn't even say anything; couldn't think of anything. I guess that was okay, the hug seemed to be enough for that day.

Hugs to all of you,

Cindy

Halllooooo Eileenie......I've missed you sooooo! :(

Yesterday I finally got really hungry. The Protein Shakes are getting too sweet for me, so I read all the stuff on the liquid stage thread -- no real answers there either. I'm supposed to be on liquid for 2 weeks (low fat, low sugar). Last night I made egg drop Soup and that made me feel better. I want to Water down a commercial soup but don't know if that is allowed. I finally feel well enough for a short trip to the grocery store, maybe later. My list doesn't say anything about cream Soups, though I am allowed skim milk. I didn't realize there are SO many ways to post op diets. Some drs say Clear Liquids, then shakes, then mushies and then I've read 1, 2 or 4 weeks for the liquid phase. Mind boggling. I've never desired taco bell as much as I do now! I think I'm gonna phone the nutritionist for ideas. :)

You'll definitely be battling some hungries, Patty, but you HAVE to win the battle! Remember popsicles!!!!! That helped me out a bunch. Some insist on SF, but if you can't stand that, I wouldn't worry too much. Courage!

Went to the funeral today...at least 600 people...couldn't fit in the church. Very impressive, you know, he was just a regular guy who worked as a lineman for the electric company...not a big CEO or an elected official, but a real man, who made a big impact on so many people. I hope everyone has the chance to have a guy like that in their lives somewhere. Makes you want to try harder to be a better person.

Very emotional and exhausting...

Hugs,

Cindy

Patty - Jello really helped me! Popcicles too! Try the carnation Instant breakfast drinks, they have the so sugar ones and they taste pretty good.

Cindy - Sorry about your friend, funerals are so hard to go to for me.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
