Feeling like a failure

Recommended Posts

Eating much softer foods today...pureed baby food and cottage cheese with a little soy milk to make it creamy. Much better! I found these fantastic organic baby foods called Plum Organics. They actually taste pretty good, have Protein and low carbs. I'm feeling better. :)

Cyber-abrazos (hugs) for all.

I'm 5 wks out..my tummy has been hurting some threw up today just foam..smells have been bothering me lately. I'm cutting back to more soft an liquid myself. I think it's best to baby the tummy. We aren't in no hurry! Been nauseating lately so I take a zofran to help. My Dr nurse called today chking on me we talked about the nauseous she did say it will go away an continuing my protocol diet...I do...were doing good believe it or not! Hang in there..:)

I remember a vet sleever saying to treat your sleeve like "a newborn" in the early weeks and months. . It was great advice. Be gentle and back away to easy foods if it gets fussy.

It gets better but takes time. Now 2.5 years out I can eat anything never vomit and only rarely feel queasy from over indulgence.

Now I can eat a lot of different foods. It's awesome that your not having any cravings. It was five weeks I could eat salad. Water is still hard to get enough of. I use Syntrax strawberry kiwi protien powder added to water. Almond milk unsweetened. Low fat milk. It will get easier. I had to keep going back to the soft food guide from the nutritionist.

I was sleeved on July 28th and am on the 2nd week of soft foods. Today was rough because I threw up twice. :( First in the morning I had a small sip of Water to take a pill and then I ate my Breakfast (scrambled eggs). Almost immediately I threw up. I won't make that mistake again. So I felt rough the rest of the day and still needed to get 200 more calories and 10g of Protein so I had some creamy PB and 3 low fat triscuit crackers. I couldn't get all PB down and chewed the crackers like 30xs. Then I felt terrible pain and discomfort and ended up throwing up a bunch of foam. Yuck!!!

I am a major rule follower and so I feel like I messed up bc I threw up. I have read some posts and it seems like I must have ate too much or too fast. I thought I did what I was supposed to do (measured and chewed) and still threw up. I know I'm learning about my new stomach but I was really hoping I'd be a "sleeve superstar" and do everything "right."

Would love some encouragement/advice from fellow sleevers. I don't want another day like this. :(

I was also sleeved on 7/28. My dr just moved me to pureed. They advance us slower but I have to say not vomiting. They also said eggs may take a while to sit ok. Also I am rule follower are u eating w baby size spoon? & taking 20-30m for meals. Remember slow & steady wins the race! Good luck

Hi guys. I know different surgeons have different plans but being on soft foods at two weeks seems WAY TOO SOON. My doctor David Kim has a torture plan that goes like this:

Clear liquids 1-5 days post op

Full liquids (6-20) days post op ( this means shakes, strained fat free Soups, skim milk, diluted juices) soooo 2 weeks here

Puree stage (21-35) days post op ( everything you eat has to be very wet, mashed, mulched, and even then you need to chew it. They say applesauce consistency so things like refried Beans etc

Soft stage (36 -50 ) days post op - things like mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, very wet scrambled eggs etc.

Each stage is a two week marathon of a different texture of food. Your stomach is not ready at 7 days to start processing things like crackers. Smack your doctor.

He's performed over 6000 surgeries, he actually developed and trademarked the inverted staple line procedure for sleeve, and he hasn't had any leaks in any patients in the last 3000 since he went to the inverted line and this diet plan.

I agree this is similar to my surgeons plan as well in MN. I cant imagine crackers at this point im happy to start pureed in the morning! !

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
