Out of Country travel

I'm looking into getting the lap band, however, I am concerned as I am going on a missions trip overseas in about a year. Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering how soon (if ever) after banding that you would be comfortable traveling to a foreign country where conditions may not be the greatest.

I would be comfortable to travel abroad after 6 weeks. I'd be comfortable to LIVE abroad after about 6 months. Anytime I'd travel or live abroad, I'd make sure I was with someone trained to take out my fill if I needed it in an emergency and make sure I traveled with the correct needle, for emergency use only.

This would be a great question to discuss at your surgical consult too!

Good luck.
