@@Fab@Forty When do you move to mushies? I am on liquids until I see my dr. on the 30th. I gained 10 lbs on IV fluids! They are all gone plus a couple of more, so I am on the downhill finally. I feel just like you do about how hard it is to get in the liquids and Proteins. I think I need to schedule myself to eat because if I don't I really don't think about it. I am doing a lot of Water sipping though. It is a very, very weird feeling to be burdened by the need to eat and not having any hunger or desire to eat. It is different than when I had the band because with the band I was just physically stopped from eating and wanted to eat more. Now I have no desire. I went grocery shopping today (that was a bit much for me physically) and got my daughter ice cream. I told her to eat it away from me, but I am not sure I would even mind if she didn't. No thank you, I'm stuffed :)

Hey @@Notinks! I will be on mushy food as of day 22! That will officially be October 8th. I have finally gotten all of that IV fluids off of my as of today! Now... it gets REAL! I am so excited that we are on the losing side now! I did about 6 ounces of Protein today and about the same amount of H2O. As of now, nothing is coming up or making me sick... I am just full all the time.

I had surgery on the 16th. Some days I've been able to get in my fluids, some days about half. At random times through out the day I get really clammy, dizzy, and light headed. I'm not sure of its because I am dehydrated or due to lack of calories or maybe it's hypoglycemia. I almost called my Dr yesterday but I follow up with him tomorrow morning so I will discuss it with him. I was also suffering from some awful reflux, which I thought we weren't supposed to have with the bypass. Strange! I can already see a bit of a difference in my body, face in not puffy and my wedding rings aren't so tight.

Tomorrow I start full liquids for two weeks. I can have thinned yogurt, strained cream Soups, and even skim milk. Though I am a bit nervous about adding all these foods.

Hang in there everyone.

My dr put me on an acid reducer from the day I left the hospital & am taking it for 2 months, when I asked why he said it was because reflux was common after bypass! Maybe ask your Dr about that too!

I'm so nervous every time I eat, I'm on mushy food now and it's like heaven, I was so sick of liquids!!!

@@Bingcherry I was sent home on an acid reducer too. It's a dissolvable Previcid. I remember him mentioning it at my last pre-surgical visit, but I don't remember him saying it would be for a limited time. I think it is more of a precaution against ulcers later.

It is great to see how everyone is doing! I am behind you all. My surgery is tomorrow morning. Clear fluids for me.

Today, I am feeling both excited and scared...not so much of the surgery, because I have a lot of confidence in my doctor, but I am concerned about how bad I might feel afterward and how that might effect my household.

I am feeling a bit selfish taking this time for myself to recover. But I have to keep reminding myself that that is some of the reason why I am in this position in the first place, because for far too long, I put everyone else's needs before my own.

Anyway, keep updating as you all can! I am learning so much from you already.

I was sent home on Omeprazole which is for gerd/reflux. I guess it takes a while to kick in.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
