I am just depressed. On the day of surgery I was 299. That was my goal I set for my surgery day. I started at 325 and I wanted to be at 300 on surgery day. I succeeded!! Which made me feel pretty good. I lost 17 more pounds on my post op liquid diet. Ever since I was put on soft food my weight loss has really slowed. I stalled for two weeks at week 3. When it broke I lost 13 pounds in 3 days. I then went back to losing one pound a day for 4 days then I suddenly dropped 4 pounds in one day. Now I am back to losing 1 pound every 2 days. I follow my diet and I work out 6 days a week. I am losing inches like it's nobodies business. I have dropped from a 26 to an 18/20 in 3 weeks. Can someone tell me why I'm not losing pounds. Will the pounds eventually catch up to the inches? I am really worried that I am not going lose anymore weight. I am 272 now I want lose 10 more pounds by Sept 10.

Just curious...what were YOUR expectations on the amount you'd have lost 5 weeks post op?

I thought you said you were losing a pound every other day now? That's 15 lbs/month which is a pretty spectacular rate of weight loss to my mind, no matter what kind of surgery anyone had. Am I misunderstanding what you are saying? Because losing 15 lbs a month is not the same thing as "not losing very fast" or "not losing pounds." I feel confused . . .

Holy smokes, you have lost 53 pounds in two months, I think you're doing awesome. Don't beat yourself up, I think sometimes slow and steady wins the race, and who cares what the scale says, it's the inches that matter, and no matter what you've been told, size does matter, and your shrinking how exciting!!!!!

I honestly don't know. I read about all these people who are at the same place I am who have lost 50 pounds after surgery. I just want to know if I am on the right track.

Remember too that muscle weighs more than fat. If your working out 6 days a week it's a good chance your losing fat and gaining muscle but it's evening out so it looks like your losing less. Just trust the inches lost. Sounds like your doing great.

Everyone is different, you can't go by anyone else's weight loss" so far you've lost 53 pounds I'd say your weight has come off faster than some I've read. Go easy on yourself, this weight you have didn't get on you all in one day. Take one day at a time and stop weighing everyday. I've heard that makes it hard on you also. Good luck

If I had to do it all over again, I would have chucked the scale on Day 1. Weighing every day is bad for your soul. I did better when my husband hid the scale and brought it out once per week.

Stay the course - find other ways to monitor your progress...take pictures and take your measurements.

I can't recall where I found this quote but it sure fits you and I mean this respectfully:

"The jealous competitor. – Don’t be jealous of others. Jealousy is the art of counting someone else’s blessings instead of your own. Stop comparing your journey with everyone else’s. Your journey is YOUR journey, NOT a competition. You are in competition with one person and one person only – yourself. You are competing to be the best you can be. If you want to measure your progress, compare yourself to who you were yesterday"

I guess I don't understand what you are complaining about. You are losing pounds at a substantial rate. (Much faster than I did), you have dropped several sizes, you are working out and getting healthier. What's the problem? If you aren't happy with your progress, then someone has given you unrealistic expectations. Just keep doing what you're doing. What's the rush?

You guys have help me feel a lot better. I guess I still see myself as the 325 pound person. I know I need to get rid of the scale. I put it up in the closet and I am not going to weigh myself until I get to my appointment on the 20th. I wish I would have never bought the dang thing. If I have the ability to change my lifestyle, I can stay off the scale for a while. Normally I wouldn't care about what other people are losing, I just started thinking about it for the last few days. My husband says I am to hard on myself. Thanks for all your replies.

Great job!

Remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint. You didn't gain all your weight in 5 weeks, you won't lose it in 5 weeks. All of us got to our high weight differently - we're all going to lose it differently.

I'm in a 8 week stall...I've only lost 7 pounds in 4 months. Talk about a slow loser! LOL.

But I try to look at where I came from - I'm down 72 pounds. That's amazing.

You should expect to lose 1-2 pounds a week, so you're losing very quickly right now. Don't get discouraged when this slows down. Also, don't set yourself up for disappointment by setting arbitrary weight goals (10 pounds by Sept.10) You may well achieve this goal, but if not, you will lose 10 more pounds as your body dictates. My concern for you is you are being far too hard on yourself. Your weight loss is excellent right now. Eventually, it will slow down, but you are doing NOTHING WRONG!

I think you are doing just fine.Losing 50 plus pounds in two weeks is pretty good. You just need to go on, the way you are.Everybody has a different metabolic rate and so the weight loss is also different. You will sure reach your goal the way you are losing weight as well as the inches.Do take care and Good Luck.

I agree with the above statements you are losing weight at a great speed, take one day at a time and as long as you are doing the right thing you are going in the right direction. Good luck.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
