Hello everyone,

Ive been planning to revise my lap band to the sleeve due to weight gain. I've been having so many issues trying to eat what I should due to the food being stuck and the pain and throwing up it causes. Did anyone else revise there band due to gaining and did it help?

Yes, yes, yes! I had the Lapband in 2009 and I list a total of 50lbs and gained about 30 of it back. It was such a horrible experience. I couldn't anything. I would throw up everything! It was so bad that I knew I would throw up so I would eat it anyway, and head straight to the bathroom and throw up. It wax easy to keep junk food down. And yes, I chewed my food up very well....till it was mushy. I also took small bites, all that. It didn't work. I would get Fluid in and out...then it came to a point where I could eat more and went to get a fill...paid my money, and they wouldn't fill my band. It was such a frustrating situation. I couldn't eat...I just couldn't. Four days again it was reversed to a sleeve and I'm so happy I did it! No more going back and forth for fills...Good Luck!! Go for it!

Hi Teachercns, thanks for replying. Ive been over thinking this one since I hate surgeries. Haha. I will definitely consider this. How are you doing with your sleeve regarding weight if you don't mind me asking. Thanks again. :)

Gonnadoit56, I'm not sure if you're asking the insurance question to me. I don't know if it will be covered yet. Seeing my doctor on Friday the 25th and I'll probably know then. :)

I am band to sleeve...banded 2005 revision 2014...been sleeved for 3 months 4/9 and have lost 40 pounds since surgery...lost 77 pounds with the band and gained 70 back, took me a yr to lose 77 and maintained for 4 years then the complications started fiils/unfiils vomitting, gerd, stuck food, chest pain and weight gain!! My dr said revision patients tend to lose slower and thats fine im very happy with my sleeve and no complications and my weight loss im happy abt!

Yes my insurance covered it. I have Aetna...the only thing was I had to go through the entire process over again. But it's so worth it!

I am only 4 days out of surgery and so far so good. It seems it's a bit more painful. Lapband I went home same day, sleeve I had to spend the night. Plus for so e reason my blood pressure kept going up. I have lost about 20 since I started my preop till now. I'm doing so much better.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
