I am about 7 weeks out and I am finding I feel satisfied when I take in about 900 calories a day when I workout and about 700-800 when I don't work out. I've perused around other boards and found some folks still eating only 600 calories at this point. My appetite is definitely different than pre-op but I feel like a pig compared to those other folks. I track everything that goes in my mouth to ensure I meet the Protein and Water goals but I am also careful with fat and carbs. Anyone else feel like try need to get in a bit more to be satisfied? Maybe my anxiety is getting the best of me. Date sleeved: 7/14/14 HW: 265 Day of Surgery: 244 CW: 220 Goal: 125-130 @ 5'3"

I am the same as you. I also felt like there was something wrong with me when I read others talk about how little they eat. My doc told me 800 calories is quite normal and to stop comparing myself to others.

Had a very interesting situation. I had a sore throat which developed into canker sores. But the biggest problem was the canker sore decided to develop on my uvula.... Even Water burns when I down it.... Back to liquid diet again until the thing heals... 2 weeks is standard time to heal, I think i shortened it to another 2-3 days because it's slowly healing the ulcers.

You are so right. I need to stop comparing. Thats a bad habit if mine! Thanks and best wishes for your success!

I agree about the comparison to others. I keep reading about all these HUGE losses and second guess myself. I'm really trying to make this about ME and my journey to health at MY pace. I am so very glad to have people to talk to about ANYTHING that's going on and know you all have been there or at minimum understand what is going on. Thanks

I agree. I know some people have super losses or hardly any at all but I think the majority of us are in the same boat. I've seen lots and lots of people who had theirs around when I did (July 7) and we all seem to be neck and neck in weight loss. At least within 5-10 pounds of each other. In every group there will be outliers --people that for some reason do super well or super poorly, but I think most people as science shows, fall in the middle round. The center of the bell curve. I also noticed that many of us are eating very different calorie amounts and very different types of diets due to our different doctors, but yet most are hovering around the same weight loss. I'm trying to remind myself of that when I feel like it is coming off too slow or get disappointed it didn't all fall off my day one lol. I

My menu is not really a certain calorie....it's Protein and carbs....10-14 gms of protein 6 x's per day. 7-10 carbs 4 x's. I have lost a lot of inches. My surgery was 7/14 and I am only down 25 lbs since surgery; 35 total. I look at it like this... I am not gaining and slow and steady means less hanging skin.

We had surgery the same day! I would love it if you would post some of your measurements where you lost inches. is that too personal to ask?

Question: Has anyone heard if post surgery that kidney stones are a potential problem. My doctor me that many post surgery patients have gallbladder trouble from the very fast weight loss, but never mentioned kidney stones. I am having like pain in mid back going through toward bladder. Never had a stone before so I can't swear this is what it is but uncomfortable enough to stop the exercise tonight.

Yes you can get kidney stones as well. Usually from not enough Water. Pain starts in lower back and can radiate to the front.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
