Pick up my baby?

Hi I am 16 days post opt. Before I had the surgery my doctor told me not to pick up my baby ( he weights 30lbs) until my 6 week . He said 5 weeks at the earliest . Today I went to my 2 weeks appt. and my doctor is on vacation. So I had to see the nurse practitioner & she told me I would be fine picking him up. So now my dad who has been helping me with my kids is now going home . I'm still sore & scared. Has anyone else got the okay to pick up kids this earlier?

I have a 2 year old who is 25lbs,

I am 3 Weeks out and they told me another week on picking him up but I must admit I have picked him up a couple if times. It did not seem to bother me to much I just kept him on my right side where the smaller less painful incisions are. It's so hard when they are babies and just want to be held.

Thank you for responding . I have a 2 year old too . It is hard not picking them up . I will just have to take it slow .

I have a 3yo just over 30 lbs, and my surgeon said for about 4 weeks I would need to sit down and have him climb up on me. It wasn't necessarily the carrying him that could cause problems as much as the bending & pulling to pick him up from floor. Hope that helps. :)

Thank you . I feel like I should wait too . But didn't want to seem needy . My surgeon did say to wait at least till the fifth week . But my dad is going home . So I will just have to take it slow I guess.
