Hab your stomach swelling is starting to go down which means less of the funnel action at opening.

No problem with drinking bigger gulps.

@@habsi, don't worry, @@lylabelle is right! I've been able to drink much bigger sips for the past six days or so without trouble, but since I've been eating purees, I can definitely feel restriction. While I can easily drink 500ml in an hour, it takes about 45min to comfortably eat two tablespoons of pureed food. This is exactly why we mustn't drink while we eat.

Thanks guys! U have made me feel much much better I was worrying

Now I wish I could curb the cravings I genuinely want food !! I had very creamy mashed potato yesterday and it was so nice to have texture

I admit though even with liquids I'm stuffing myself as in I get hungry order Soup have like 6-8 spoons then feel stuffed but it hasn't satisfied the craving if that makes any sense

Well two days and the scale hasn't moved. I'm not stressing cause I feel thinner but I'd really like to see those numbers change.

After some very rapid loss, my scale has slowed down a lot too. But we don't need to be concerned; this is totally normal. We just have to follow the rules, trust the process, and start getting to know our bodies again as we heal. Chin up @@swedishfish1020

There is a typical 3 week stall. Some may have it sooner, some later. 20-30 pounds the first month is average. We still have 3 weeks in the first month! So its likely to stop here and there.

Here is some chemistry on that which may help

after fat cells had been emptied of stored triglyceride, they would temporarily refill with Water (glycerol attracts water, which might be part of the mechanism). Fat cells filled with fat take up more space than fat cells filled with water, so you may see inches go. Then, after some time frame, the water would get dropped, the fat cells would shrink down. That is, the fat was emptied and burned off days or weeks ago but until the water is dropped, the scale didn't change.

Mine isn't showing much of a loss because of TOM. Its *brutal* today. Definatly more painful than normal. no fun. But I'm guessing in 3-4 days I should see a whoosh.

I'm down 12 pounds since surgery to 238, and 32 pounds overall. My rings are loose but staying on my fingers so far. I had a couple tablespoons Peanut Butter and mashed banana but even though I eat tiny little bites, I'm eating them too fast and causing major stomach gurgles. I thought not drinking with meals would be the hardest thing to do but earing slower has jumped to the top of the list.

Here's a weird thing, my incisions have started itching the past few days but I expected that since they are healing. However, it's almost like the incision areas are going through some kind of allergic reaction. They're all red, but not like with an infection, but red and some reddish bumps and really itchyskin around the perimeter of the incisions. I don't have a fever or pain and no pus or any signs of infection, but almost like the skin is irritated. Guess I'll try to get in on Monday morning to have them checked out.

Went to Wendys with family today and weird that nothing sounds amazing to me. I ordered a grilled chicken wrap, opened it up and pulled a little bit of the chicken apart into little pieces and ate little bites of chicken and some of the cheese and was full pretty quick so I stopped. I thought the first meal of non-measured food, I thought I would have a hard time figuring out how much to eat. Thank goodness my tummy was ready to provide warning gurgles to warn me to stop!

I have " thought" I felt hungry but when I really stopped to think about it was happening during my usual snacking times.. Evening due it being bored . I have had only once where my stomach growled and it was a day I not got enough Protein in that day. I have now worked up to minced up tuna along with purée and doing well. Also cottage cheese and soft egg doing well.

Can you believe we all have tini-tiny stomachs now? What a week its been. Some have had remarkable painfree success and some have been downright miserable. At this stage everyone is in totally different places as far as food/liquid/nutrition. For those on Clear Liquids for awhile longer, if you didn't know, Isopure makes a clear drink thats 40g Protein. Its sold at some GNC stores. Might help get some protein in while being kind to your new stomach. I hope by the end of this week everyone is feeling fantastic! Here is the run down! I have an idea, let me know what you guys think... What I can start doing next week after we all lose the excess surgery fluid... so everyone can see easily how much everyone has lost, is each week we can weigh in Mondays and I can put it after your name on the new Tuesday thread. It would be great to be able to see how everyone is doing at a glance - ie (lylabelle -6). It will be fun the first few weeks when we will probably all be dropping really well (except week 3 is typically a stall). You guys can message your number to me if you want so we keep our thread clean and filled with tips, tricks, recipes, annoyances and NSVs! Let me know what you think. Love this group! I called my doctor today because my incisions were exactly as you described. I don't alway look at them and even though I jus saw my surgeon yesterday. I kinda freaked when I saw the red ring around the 2 to the left almost like an allergic rash with 2 bumps off to the said. He said he just saw me yesterday y and they were fine. He suggested using peroxide and neosporine and a bandaid and to see him Monday if I was still concerned.

Hello everyone. I had my sleeve done on May 27th. I searched the internet for sleeve forums and I am so happy I found this one. I can't believe how great this surgery was. I am trying to get more Protein in, but the shakes are making me sick. Tuesday I go to my bariatric nutritionist and will be able to go to Stage 4 diet hopefully.

Hi All,

Been lurking this thread for a while and wanted to say hi and thanks for the info shared. Sleeved on May 28th. 250 beginning, 239 DOS, 226 today!

Still on liquids/broth/yogurt until hopefully the 12th when I have my follow up. Im really living on Isopure coconut (I bought the varity packs online and tried them all) choc carnation instant bfast and lowfat cream of mushroom/broccoli Soups.< /p>

Im still super tired and nap a few times a day. I used to drink iced coffee every single morning, so missing that as well.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
