Week 2: May 27-31st Sleevers

Recommended Posts

I used lose it for years. Every time I pull up the app it has all my old info. I'd love a fresh start. I did just download and start my fitness pal. It's very similar to lose it.

I'd volunteer to get a FB page started if the majority want to give it a try. I don't want to step on any toes - Lylabelle been doing a great job of keeping this going I'm just bored. I can wait :)

I think it easier to share photos and inspirational materials, educational links....

Sandunehill - best app I use is my fitness pal. You log your Water in take. Best thing is you can scan the bar code on items and it automatically loads the nutrition information in and you can adjust serving sizes. Let me know if you have any questions!!

Thank you! I can't find where to log water... I listed it as a snack. But I'd prefer a visual check off. Thanks for your help jajmj

Iylabelle, I think it's a great idea checking in weekly.

My surgery went well. Pain is surprisingly non existent. Here's my problem I can't stand the Protein changes and barely tolerate the Isopure drinks. Basically it's been a battle getting in my Protein or anything at that.

With that said I'm down 14 since May 30th. Down 28 since May 16th. I've been walking the block every night to help with the nausea. I've also been sucking on ice to help with dry mouth.

I have three different flavors in my fridge. Tried one. They have a terrible texture or taste or something. I guess if I couldn't do anything else but at this point, no way.

Yeah some people do complain about an aftertaste. I'm basing my judgment on the 1 that I tried... But it's a nice get away from a shake. I hear very cold is the key. Mine was super icy!

jen, omg thats hilarious about the scale!! Yea what a difference. LOL I thought you were going to need to call up for a world record!

SH3 - I had one today! The red - it was EHH not great. I normally like punch flavor stuff but this was off. Someone suggested adding it to a bunch of Water, with crystal lite and i may do that with the remaning 11 bottles (I got a case online).

However the blue one I like. I drank that no problem. I wanted some orange, but they were out of stock. and I hear the grape is quite good. I will probably drink one of these every day for awhile. Starting monday I can start back on my premier Protein drinks which I really like, and they are 30g for a small container and it tastes a lot like chocolate milk. But I'm going to aim for 70g a day, at least during the work week. So thats one of each of those shakes. Any excess Protein I eat will be bonus. But since I can't really *eat* until July I'm not too concerned about it :) Not sure I'll buy more once they are gone. But I needed protein for my clear liquid time. And yea, VERY cold is key. And you gotta get past the weird mouth feel.

Kung - lactose! wow thats quite a discovery. Luckily its so easy to work around. Get the liquid drops of the enzyme. Add it to your dairy (when you do get the courage to try dairy again) and it will help a lot.

OK folks you gotta friend me so I can add you to the group since its secret.

Hi, from London UK... I had my sleeve on the 27th May. Been really great so far (although I didn't like the morphine type stuff they gave me in hospital). I was on a pre op diet for 3 weeks before surgery and have lost the grand total of 27lbs so far! Not been too much to complain about although last night I think I had dumping syndrome - anyone else had it? What was it like? I'm on the pureed diet now - and had 4 teaspoons of hummus - OMG - not pleasant!

Can you add me to this list, it seems such a great way to get support and support others.

All the best Claire

Hi Shav. The nurse at my Dr.s office told me to try New whey. 3.8 oz with 42 grams of protein! Here's the thing.....I posted that on this site because I thought it was so great especially post surgery when our stomachs are so small and for some it is really difficult to get the in but......I got some feedback saying that it didn't consist of enough amino acids etc..One person said that their Dr. ok'd it for the first week. I'll be speaking with my NUT about this drink. You may want to do the same. It's such a small amount with a huge shot of protein I hope its not too good to be true . Hope this helps!

sandDuneHill - it's at the very bottom - don't log it like everything else - you put in the number of oz you have. It's listed under exercises. Hope that helps!

You can count me out for the FB page. I certainly won't try to stop you guys from making one, but I don't think I'll join. I've heard stories about people thinking they were posting to a private page and accidentally posting things to their walls and stuff. I mean, I'm a relatively tech savvy youth, but I'm also super tech-paranoid youth. Plus I don't trust Facebook not to be constantly changing its privacy settings. Remember a few years ago when they introduced Timeline and suddenly everyone had easy access to stuff you posted in 2005?? I had to go back through years of stuff and make sure 18 year old me hadn't posted anything to embarrassing. Anyway, I've been very private about my surgery, and even though I'm careful on Facebook, things happen, human error, policy changes, etc., and I'd rather not take the risk.

Regarding the Isopure drinks, they're better if you Water them down or freeze them into popsicles. Plus I've read you can't absorb that much Protein at once anyway, so better to pace one bottle throughout the day.

Of course not

@@Sh3iz actually, drinking hasn't been a problem at all for me since about 4 days post op. I haven't tried taking big gulps or anything, but I can take normal sized swallows of Water and Protein Drinks, and if it weren't for the ick-factor, I could for sure finish a bottle of Isopure in an hour. I've been very lucky in that respect, since it's made getting my fluids in such a breeze. To be on the safe side, I've actually been making sure to only drink half a Protein Shake at once, then putting the rest in the fridge and finishing it later. Thicker purees are an other story though. I feel restriction and a sort of rhythmic clenching in my stomach, so I have to really, really pace myself, which is all for the best of course ;)

I am game for a private FB page. I was sleeved on May 29th. I have started back to work. The first day was rough! I never realized how tough getting ready is! UGH! Buckling my sandals and doing my hair about killed me! I was literally green when I got to work. I was green, clammy and felt nauseous! After a bout a half hour it subsided and I was able to tough it out. My second day back at work so far is good. Got up and felt so much better! Not normal but getting there day by day. After surgery I actually gained 10 pounds Water weight. I could not pee for the life of me! Finally I had to have a catheter. No fun! But a week and a day out I have lost 13 pounds from my day before surgery weight. I think for postings we should post our weight loss from our day of surgery weight to current, It would maybe make it more uniform than everyone posting the pre diet weight loss, Just an idea. Love this group and all the great advice and shared experiences! Thanks!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
