I'm hurting...ugh. Feel like I can't take a deep breath. Pretty out of it since I left the hospital. Everything looks good, though...doc took a pic of the band inside me...kinda gross. I should totally post it for all to see... Haha. I was in recovery most of day. Feeling better by the hour, but the gas pains are pretty bad. Thank god for the meds! I went in soooo hungry...but haven't been hungry since the operation. Doc filled my 10cc band with 5 cc's! I am having no issues swallowing or drinking... Amazing. Hope it stays this way! We will see how I do on mushies in 10 days. How is everyone?

Hey Junebug

Glad you are well. My chest felt tight... You'll need lots of pillows or a recliner to sleep. It's been 4 days for me.

I keep taking deep breaths but I know that's the lapband.

Stay strong.... You got this!!!

Yep, I'm home! I know how you feel. I am now delayed my soft foods by 4 days! I'm dreaming of scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, and clean of wheat. I have my 1 week post op tomorrow, I hope they let me start on full liquids...These Clear Liquids are killing me. My tummy is not a happy camper, it's screaming for real food! LOL!!! Hope you are doing well besides that.

I gotta tell you this. Lol... I have so much gas on my stomach and earlier, I just let it go . It was so funny because I've never done that in front of my boyfriend.

He looked at me with his mouth wide open---we were dying laughing. Anyways, hopefully that brought a smile to your face!! Take care!!!

Haha, thanks for the laugh plopez! I feel the urge to burp, but nothing comes out...ugh. Wish they could just suck the gas out when they are done. I get muscle spasms in my tummy muscles as well...I'm hoping this is normal. They don't last long. I'm really not sure what hurts worse..muscle spasms, or gas? I'm thinking this all gets better a week out.

So glad you are home, weevie!

Very nice plopez! Let er rip! Hahaha! Thanks you guys for keeping me upbeat. I have had some small gas pain in the left shoulder area, but right now I'm struggling more with the 10 lbs of Water weight gain from the IV fluuds. My skin feels foreign to me and I think it is also messing with my vision...it could also be residual from the steroids they had me on. Anyway, don't feel quite like myself yet.

I'm glad to hear you two are doing well. Plopez, I am dreaming of those mashed potatoes....

Hey girls! Yay for going home weevie! You sound like your doing much better! I'm so ready to be done with liquids. I've noticed I'm getting full a lot faster, even just with the liquids. I've been doing thinned out cream of wheat and that helps sustain me longer. The list said it was approved so I went with that. I'm totally having a potato tomorrow. I've been dreaming about it lol.

Have a any of y'all had weird moments that it's hard to breath but you feel like you need to burp and nothing is happening I've had this problem since the surgery and I'm not sure if it's normal.

I've had the same thing...hard to take a deep breath at times...and the need to burp, but it's stuck. I've found it I tilt my head towards the ceiling, I get a couple to come out.

I'm almost 2 weeks out and was having some pains that start towards the end of the day, around 3:00PM. I know that you'll start feeling human again, but we had major surgery and it will take time for our bodies to catch up. I had some extra issues, so I'm a bit behind. I was suffering from severe edema after my hospital stay, and was struggling a bit when I went back to work last week (only for 2 days). I spent all this weekend with my feet elevated and drank tons of Water and tea, and it has done wonders. I have lost the 11 lbs for water weight from my hospital stay and have lost about 4 lbs since day of surgery. I am feeling human again! I still get tired quickly when I walk a long distance, and feel like I need a nap her and there during the day. but all-in-all, I am seeing a difference and now am starting to focus on my diet. I am starting soft foods on Monday, yay! I hope you all are doing well!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
