Ok.. Here's the problem. I was sleeved 5/28 an was released from hospital 5/30. When I was released I was given no instructions on how to care for my incision. I'm scared to take a shower, an get that area wet, so I have be doing sponge bathes. My doctors office is closed till the morning but I REALLY want to take a shower, so please someone let me no what you did. I only have 1 incision across my belly button, but there are no stitches- only a shiny film look on top of the incision. That's why I came to the conclusion of it may be surgery glue.

Thanks in advance,

Krystal

I was sleeved May 5th and was "glued" back together..... 6 small incisions. My instructions were...no baths, no soaking in Water. Shower with the water on my back. I could wash my chest and let the water flow from my shoulders. Pat my stomach area dry. No rubbing or scrubbing...No picking at the glue. 3 weeks and 4 days later, my incisions had dried up, scabs had come off...no open areas at all and I was allowed to go back to my water aerobics class. I hope this has helped.

Thank you so much! I was so scared to get it wet. How has your recovery been so far? Did you have a hard time getting all of ur Vitamins, liquids an Protein in?

As far as nutrition....the only instructions I received was to make sure I have 64 oz of liquid a day. First week was clear liquids...went back to doc for check up. Diet was changed to full liquids: creamed Soups (liquefied and strained)thinned with skim milk, CarbMaster (Kroger) yogurt, protein drink ( no amount given). I go back on June 9 th (4 weeks out from surgery) and I will be put on pureed and possibly soft foods. My doctor seems to be more cautious with adding foods then most but I trust that he know what is best for his patients. I am doing really good, I feel good and am walking 1 mile in the morning...1 mile at night and have added walking in my Water aerobics class. I have no problem with energy or hunger. I pray a lot and trust the Lord will get me through this.

I have five incisions and was instructed to take showers with no soaking. So I wash as normal and pat my incisions dry! They do have the glue and I have one open wound from the drain which I keep covered.

I was told to shower only until my one month visit. They told me to have the Water face my back. That was hard at first b/c initially when my stomach still hurt, the Water felt good.

I was glued too. Same for me. Incisions healed really well.

You can shower, just let the Water run down your stomach. Glue came off about 2 wks later for me, healed great!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
