and a little jealous about the full liquids. I know I'll be able to get my Proteins in when I can drink shakes instead of this nasty clear Protein junk. :) Ginger

I am 3 days post-op and I agree Protein Shakes are glorious, Ginger Snaps. They had me try to move to the thicker liquids like cream Soup, pudding and yogurt. Those hurt a lot. Sat there for an hour after each one in pain after only getting an ounce down. Be grateful they are progressing you slowly. It will make the next stage that much better. (All in my head but wow, broth never tasted that good before.) I am going to take my time and enjoy my broth and shakes for now.

Hi everyone, just checking, in. My surgery on June 4th went well. I am doing good. I am eating some cottage cheese as I type. I never cared for it, but when you can only have a couple of things.. whatever is on the list tastes that much better haha. I have to say I enjoy the vanilla yogurt.. didnt think that I would.. it is like a dessert to me. I struggle with the creamed Soups tho, not eating them but knowing what a creamed Soup is.. do they mean cream of chicken.. or something like that>> I checked the supermarket and see cream of celery cream of chicken.. but really is that all they mean.. ? What kind of creamed Soups are you eating? :)

I am finally home from the hospital. I have a drain plug to care for but I'm home. Able to tolerate cottage cheese and yogurt, but not ice cold Water. Weird what is so different in taste and textures. Just taking it one day at a time.

I am 10 days post surgery after open gastric bypass. Family do not know I have had the surgery and today at a family mean I ate a couple of things I shouldn't. Not large amounts but I shouldn't eat it. Since then I have been in a agony. It's been nearly 5 hours. Having reflux, serious pain, have I busted something? I'm so stupid and scared. I didn't have reflux prior to this.

I hope you are feeling ok :(

We'll my surgery was uneventful and all was going well for about 40 hours after release. Then I started having shortness of breath and the doctor sent me to the ER. After ruling out cardio and blood clots they decided I have pneumonia and I'm back in the hospital. Ugh!

I still feel ok just pressure in the chest need to be here so I can have antibiotics. Still know I made the right choice and this is just a bump in the road. Ten pounds lost in the first four days! Shocker!

I NEED HELP!!!!! Ok Junies, I have a question for anyone who had or has to do a bowel prep before surgery. My doctor doesn't require it, however every other surgery I've had, did require it. I want to ensure there is NOTHING left in bowel, when they start cutting it up, lol!! I saw one surgery on Fat Doctor and when he cut the intestine liquidy green stuff/ poop came running out into this poor patient's abdominal cavity. Yuck!! And not good for infection control. I remembered from before that I needed one bottle of Citri-Mag and a box of Dulcolax. And that I need to start it tomorrow if surgery is Thursday. I think I'm supposed to do one Dulcolax pill at six pm tomorrow night, then another one at noon on Wednesday. And have half the bottle of Citro-Mag Wednesday morning and last half Wednesday at six. This sound about right? My last abdominal surgery was seven years ago, so I'm going from memory. Lol. I'm starting clear fluids only for all day Tuesday and Wednesday. Does this sound about right???? Help?!?!?!

You don't need to do bowel prep if it not requested. A little green gunk is fine. Don't put yourself through more stress than you need. Focus on balancing your eating following surgery, I am struggling with it. ????

I am being sleeved on June 18th. I am getting nervous and sometimes reading the threads makes it worse, not better. Anyone else feel that way?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
