Lions and Tigers and Planes...OH MY!

Recommended Posts

So on the topic of airplanes.... It has been a long time since I have attempted to fly and I don't know that I have ever flown without the worry that I wouldn't have seatbelt issues or someone next to me wishing they weren't next to me issues. Know what I mean? Can anyone give me any insight as to what weight I might be able to book a flight without a lot of anxiety? I think that will be my next goal! My BFF is a 12 hour drive away. Although I don't mind a good roadtrip, I would get to see her more often if I could just jump on a plane. I know we are all built different but I was just looking for a general idea.I'm 5'7. Thanks!

I am 5'5"and I need a seatbelt extender on most planes when I was over 300. i carried alot of weight in my midsection though so not sure I can answer your question. If you can afford to fly first class - problem solved!

Thanks! I too carry a lot in my midsection. I will be traveling again this fall so that gives me something to shoot for! There really isn't anything I can do that I'm not already doing but it is nice to have something to look forward to!

I'm 5'8 and at 275, depending on the airline it cuts pretty close. I'm a big midsectioner as well. I can fit on all planes I think, but on Alaska or American it was a really tight fight and a small battle. So I imagine since we are similar you could do it around 250 to 260 depending on where the weight comes off of you.

I found I struggled to fit into one seat and to not need a seatbelt extender when my BMI edged over 45-46. I am 5'4 and for me that's at about 270. I do carry a lot of weight in my hips and lower tummy so that makes it harder for me to fit into airplane seats and use seatbelts than other people at my same height/weight.

Thanks ladies! Looks like it might take longer than I want...but the good news is I WILL eventually get there!

I am 5'4" and when I was 256 pounds, I almost needed an extender...I looked like I was steer wrestling, but I got that belt buckled without one! I had a really big a$$ and carried most of my weight in the middle.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
