My surgery date is coming closer and closer, this whole process has just sped by so quick. I still have tons of questions and concerns! Did anyone get their gallbladder removed during the surgery to reduce problems later down the road or has anyone experienced problems after surgery because of their gallbladder? A co worked of mine was telling me briefly about this. Another concern is, I haven't even had my 21st birthday yet.. Not for three more years, but am I at least going to be able to have a drink some point in my life or is it forever gone? During my two week liquid diet my dr said I would be able to have watermelon because it is mostly Water does that mean I can eat bell peppers also? Also three days after my surgery is the 4th of July and I was hoping I would be able to spend it with my family at a get together out of town. Am I going to be up for that and if I am would it hurt me in anyway?

I don't think bell peppers would count as part of a liquid diet. They want your digestive system to rest.

I don't believe you'll feel well enough to go out of town only 3 days after surgery. I was still tired and in some pain then, not in the mood to go on a road trip. You'll just be figuring out how to drink the thicker liquids too, at least I was.

It sounds like you're having a bit of a hard time facing the life changes that will come from this surgery. Maybe you can talk to a professional about your concerns, to make sure you're really ready?

I am 10 months post sleeve surgery. Down 115.lbs. I started having issues with gallbladder at 8 months. I had it removed. I wish I had it removed same time as wls. I have heard that some doctors remove it. I think it is like 25 percent have issues after

wls. I am fine after gallbladder removal. On vacation right now and having wine. I'm a light weight now.

I had the gastric sleeve 2 years ago. I have lost 100 lbs. I am able to drink alcohol but one drink will be enough and it saves money. Lol. I just started having gallbladder issues 5 months go when I was 8 months pregnant. I am seeing my surgeon next week for a consultation to get it removed. The pain is ridiculous but I had to wait to get it out because I was pregnant. As for the bell peppers it is to had to digest the soon after surgery. Also even though I was back to work 2 weeks later, I don't think you will be up to going out that soon. You will be hunched over till your muscles heal from the surgery. I do this my stomach has stretched out more. I lost the weight the first year and have not lost anymore or gained. I only gained 20 lbs with my baby. I also lost the 20 lbs 4 weeks after birth. Just nothing more. I hope this helps.

@@marcumkari You should make a list for comparison. List the things you have given up in life already because of your weight. Next list those things you will regain after WLS. Finally, list things you will have to give up after WLS.

This should give you a clearer picture of where you are now and where you can be if you go through with the WLS. I guarantee you that the first two lists are a lot longer then the third.

As long as your in weight loss mode your shouldnt drink. Alcohol reduces an enzime in your body required to breakdown the fat you want to lose for 3 days. That's right one drinks significantly reduces your weight loss for 3 days. In essence, slows your weight loss down to half. Personally I dont think 20 year olds have enough experience in life to handle the mental pressure of bariatric surgery. I know I would not have for exactly what your concerned about, drinking. Good luck on your journey. Also leaving your comfort zone 3 days after surgery would not be my first choice.

Thank you all! Very helpful. My main focus isn't on being able to drink. I am just curious. I will definitely be talking to my dr about the gallbladder situation. Hoping that I won't have any issues with mine after surgery.

I had gallstones prior to surgery, but my surgeon believes in leaving it in if it's asymptomatic. I was sleeved 7 months ago and have lost 49 lbs (1 lb to go to meet surgeon's goal) and haven't had any problems. We're all so different...

I had my gallbladder removed at the time if surgery. My surgeon does this fairly routinely. Saves having it taken out, and another surgery down the line....

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
