Hi,

I am feeling okay, took the week off, probably could have gone back to work on Wednesday, but figured what the heck. I work at Rush University that's why I was thinking it was Dr. Myers. Nice guy. I have read a couple of things that say that the average weight loss is about 8 pounds a month, is that about right?

Going tomorrow on the 90 mile garage sale event from Joilet to Towanda - the old Route 66. Have a good weekend with whatever you do.

I'm having my surgery done at Mercy Hospital by Dr. Bonomo. My surgery has been postponed, I was suppose to have it done on May 2nd but due to an infected cut on my stomach (cut it cleaning out the damn pool) it had to be postponed so I could take two weeks of antibiotics and hopefully on my next appt. May 14th he will give me a new date!! He said I should get in right away after that appt. Please keep your fingers crossed for me!!:nervous

Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. :-)

Hi Everybody, I am new to this. I saw two postings where people had their surgery done by Dr. Myers at Rush. Dr Myers will also be performing my surgery. How did your surgery go? I am nervous. My surgery date is 5-10-07, this Thursday. I will be having surgery at Day One Health in the Bloomingdale building in Chicago. Is that where you both had your surgery? Pre-op liquid's for two weeks is rough!!!!! How did you do with the pre-op? Sorry for so mnay questions!!!! Thank-you.

HI Belles,

I had my surgery right at Rush University (because I work there). He is a great doc and everything went very smooth. I was the first one for the day at 7:30 so I went home Monday night. Felt good on Tuesday, crappy on Wednesday (because I did too much on Tuesday) but other than that I am fine. Yeah the two weeks are brutual and the next week isn't much better (but I really am not that hunger this week) and tomorrow starts mushies so......onward I go. Keep in touch and let me know how everything is going for you. By the way, where do you live? I am in Homewood. Take care.

good morning Belles

I had mine done at D1H too. i did ok with the preop - about 4 days in i had a 1/2 bagel and sucked the cheese off a few doritos. by the second week it was easier.

i thought the surgery went fine but i hurt alot. the nurse person Chris who kept checking on me was super wonderful. i think my surgery was at 10 or so and we left by 4 i think. i really wanted to skip the whole thing and run into Bloomies to try on hats - good thing my mom was with me and didn;t let me!

I hope you both can join us for our next lunch!

Hi Rsdtj12,

Thank you for responding. I am glad your surgery went well. I am

really getting nervous about this Thursday. The going under is what

scares me the most. Dr.Myer seems to be really nice and very sure of his

abilities with this surgery. I feel very comfortable and trusting with

him. How are you feeling now? What date did you have your surgery? Have you been losing? Sooooo many questions! Sorry I am just very curious. I have between 80-100 lbs to lose! I am tired of this weight battle, I believe we all are that's why we have turned to the lap band for help. Thank you for telling me where you live. We are close. I live in Midlothian and I am also 53 years old. Thank you again and I hope we keep in touch. It's nice having support from the people who truly understand.

Hi Soniacan,

Thank you also for your reply. I see you also had Dr. Myers. that is good to know. This two weeks of pre-op is killing me!!!! I am almost there. May 10th is my surgery date. On surgery day do you just go straight into surgery or does Dr. Myer aor anybody talk to you. Jodie called the other day she is really nice.

Congrats on your weight loss so far!!!! I cannot wait to get started but first I have to fight the same urge you had to keep me out of Bloomies! Thank you for the invite to the next lunch.

Take care and again congrats on your progress.

i think i had to get there early and i know i got there VERY early... i remember chatting with the nurses and the anestesiologust (how ever you spell that word!) and he was very funny! He asked what my favorite cocktail was - a chocolate martini - so when he was giving me my drugs he was all bartender-man serving up my "chocolate martini". I did see Dr Meyers before - think he asked about the preop and how i was feeling. And everyone asked about a zillion times what my name was and why was there...

Hi everyone,

I just found this site and was so excited. I had my banding 3/15/07 at Loyola with Dr. Sarker. So far I have lost 20 pounds and feel pretty good. I live in the far western suburbs (Aurora) and am looking forward to actually talking to people who have been through the surgery. I am 43 years old and have about 100 more pounds to lose.

Hello, hello, hello, I've been MIA again. Hard to get to the pc in the evenings, 3 boys.:omg: How is everyone? I see we have a few new people, not that I'm not still a newbie myself! Hello to all.

Well how was the meeting 5/4? I'm shooting for the next one, going to get a sitter and hope I don't have a bgillion things going on that day!

I go for my consultation on Wed. I can't wait! I am so worried about not gettig approved by BCBSIL, I'm looking into my 2ndary, Aetna. I have to call tomorrow to be sure but I went on their website and their policy only wants 3 months not 6 like BCBSIL!!!:biggrin1: Could this be true, can I have surgery 3 months earlier than I thought...I put the ???on the OH insurance board and the insrance guy said he's try Aetna...just maek sure I read both policies COMPLETELY.

Let you guys know how things went on Wednesday night.

I know of quite a few places. I live on Aurora/Oswego border so either way is good- as is Naperville. Are we targeting the whole Chicago area?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
