Sorry if tmi but I was just wondering when I should expect to have a BM? I am 1 week post op and no sign that it's near but it's so strange for me.. I'm used to being a once a day kinda girl. ????

U should have gone by now. U should contact your surgeon and he could write u a script for colace stool softener. I'm supposed to take them daily but since I been on regular foods I haven't needed to take them. 1 week post op I had the opposite problem, I suffered from severe diarrhea then the week following extreme Constipation. It's just your body trying to adapt to your new diet. Drink plenty of Water and in the mean time take something over the counter

My surgeon recommended Peri-Colace, which is available over the counter.

I'm 9 days post op and it took me a week, Milk of Magnesia worked for me alsoo. Try not to strain, I think I may have and my stomach was sore right above my belly button for two days now. I wonder if this is common, if any one knows?

I also suffered horribly from Constipation after my surgery. My saving grace has been Fiber Gummy supplements. I take 2 a day and voila! :) I've been where you are but it gets better!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
