NEWBIES..... LETS STICK TOGETHER

Recommended Posts

Soniaj, I will have my 3 rd apt with PCP on July 16. Then 3 more months. I still have a cardio apt in Aug. I hope to be finished mid Sept then turn in all records and get approved! I don't know how Medicare is with surgery but my bariatric coordinator seems to be sure they will approve. I will see surgeon one last time too b 4 surgery I guess. So that's where I stand, oh and nobody knows but my fiancé , just haven't found a good time to tell my daughter. She may not like this, but it's my choice to get healthy!

I meant mid October

Mine should be in December. That's when all the insurance stuff is done. I'm done with all of my prerequisites. But I have to turn in a 6 month daily food journal. That's what's taking so long.

My surgery was last Friday 7/25 and I am doing great!! The worst part has been the gas. Between the 2 week prep diet and now I have lost 14lbs. I was worried that I would doubt my decision to do this, but so far I am very happy!! I was back at work Monday and doing well. If anyone has questions, please feel free to ask!!

Question for post-op sleevers: My schedule is scheduled for a Wednesday. I'm a middle school teacher so I don't really do any lifting or strenuous physical activity at work. Based on your experience: How much time do you suggest taking off to recover?

I had lap band on a Friday and I was fine for work on Monday. I have a desk job, so it was easy. I'm not sure what the downtime for a sleeve is...sorry!!

I have seen the surgeon and completed to the required nutrition/education classes. I have also provided all of the appropriate documentation and medical records and am now seeking insurance approval. My surgery date is scheduled Oct 6th. Wish me luck!!!

Good luck! My surgery date is August 15th. It's so hard to wait. I see the doc on the 8th for pre op visit, instructions, what to expect etc. Getting excited and mentally ready

I'm just starting the process. I have my PCP referral appt. next Wednesday (it was supposed to be today but doctor called off sick!) and then August 26th is the first appt. with the Bariatric Surgery department. I'm pretty sure my insurance BCBS of NE PA requires the 6 months of visits, NUT appt, Psych eval, bloodwork. So, if I start in late August, I'm guessing I won't be approved for surgery until late Feb 2015.

Things are moving along a little quicker than I thought they would so now it looks like I'll be sleeved in September! I have one more appointment with psych, one more with the nut, and one with an internist with the practice. That will all be done in the next two weeks. Then I'll get my date! I met my surgeon today and she said September is very likely...

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
