Havent eaten in a week. Anyone else not eating?

I am an August sleever that has had a leak since the surgery. I had a stent placed a few weeks ago and I just have no desire to eat. Im basically living on percoset and water. I keep myself very hydrated but Im starting to get very weak and shaky from not eating. The only thing I can seem to keep down is slim fast when I can drink it. The doc seems to think im going to need surgery again to close the hole. Im sick to my stomach 24/7 and in constant pain. Ive even quit my job bc I can no longer function it seems like. Im just in a really bad place. How do I eat when all I do is throw up, I don't even want to look at food let alone eat it. Im just getting sicker and im actually scared about how much weight ive lost. Its been 9 months and ive lost a little over 150 lbs. Im currently about 178 and I really don't wanna lose and more weight. anyone else going thru the not eating?

I think the reason you're not eating is very valid. Who would feel like eating after all that? Is it possible to switch from the Slim Fast to something like Enusre that has more calories? Anything liquid that has more calories would be great to keep you from losing more weight. I hope you start to feel better soon!

I actually haven't had surgery yet. SO sorry to hear about all these problems. I hope this gets better soon. What is the surgeon's immediate plan? In the meantime, can they put you on IVs & nourishment?

Beagle, they don't want to give me iv nourishment, they just keep trying to force me to eat but like I said, that's the LAST thing I want to do. And Lumpy, my husband suggested the same thing, ensure. I think Im gonna pick some up today.

I hope that you get to feel better.....I have had the same symptoms.. it is important to get the important proteins and fruits into your eating plan.....I bought a nutribullet and put some spinach and fruits and a little juice and protein powder in....and try to have this several times a week..... it might be a good idea to consult with a nutricionist who handles these post bariatric surgical cases...... all the best......always...

My understanding is that they give you a dye to determine if you have a leak. If there is evidence of a leak, what the heck is he waiting for?!!! Is he hoping it'll go away?! Why do you have to go do anything? He needs to fix this now! Maybe you should go to his office and NOT leave until he fixes it! He has no right to put you in danger.

It's my understanding they check to make sure you don't have a leak BEFORE they release you from the hospital. If you have a leak your Dr has to fix it then on so many month's later. Ensure is a good idea for you to start getting some nutrition but what about the post surgery diet of broth, SF Jello etc I am wondering if that will help also. At least your body will be getting something. Please keep us posted about your leak...

If it's that bad I would ask the Dr for a PICC LINE (it's an I've in the upper arm) and T P N (it's a complete I V nutrition ). Just a thought you might ask them about. You do need your nutrients.
