extremely nervous, May 28th Surgery Mexico

Recommended Posts

I have read oodles of post here searching for the information that will set my mind at ease. I've been looking for the answer that "everything will be alright". That the my decision in going to Mexico to get a Surgery that will make my 19 years of obesity a thing of the past. My biggest dwelling point is whether am I picking the right Surgical team. I have looked up all the information I can find -which is not a great deal- about Dr. Osuna at Specialized Beriatrics. Does anyone have any experience with Dr Osuna?

I will be sure to post a long and detailed account of my experience with her, because I want to be around for a long, Long time. Also because I want you to know that I made it ( :

Please if you have any advice about her, her team, and any suggestions on how to settle down and let go of all the anxiety let me know.

Thanks

I was nervous as heck. Booked with one TJ surgeon and changed my mind, and went with another. I chose Dr. Illan for so many reasons. I can't tell you anything about your surgeon, but I can tell you that if you can't or haven't talked to at least 3 or four people that had surgery with her I would be scared too. Dr. Illan's patients have a closed Facebook site which gave me the reassurance I really needed. Maybe your surgeon has the same. I am 5 days post-op, and very confident I made the right decision for me. Feel free to inbox me if you have any questions, as I was in your exact shoes a few weeks ago!

I'm from Canada. I'm going to see Dr. Pompa at Weight Loss Forever in TJ Mexico. I"ve talked to about 6 people who have gone to her, a few of them are nurses and everyone has glowing reviews. I'm not nervous about my choice at all.

My surgery is scheduled for June 30.

Note - the surgeon name on the site for Dr. Pompa is Liza Gonzales.

Hi I'm going to Dr Osuna on May 30th!!! I had planned on another dr before dr osuna but the dr I was going to have it done by was never heard of no reviews!! I told that drs coordinator that she says that I should look him up the next day! Out of curiosity I did and the coordinator just posted some pics of this dr and a video ! That day! I'm like anybody can do that! Either way i originally wanted to go thru dr osuna ! But in the beginning of this journey I couldn't due to I had a request they couldn't grant! So the other dr with no reviews was going to allow me my request !!! So here it was two weeks before I go and Got a email from dr osunas coordinator !!! Saying they will grant my request and I'm in good hands! I didn't see a lot of reviews on her either but I seen some!!! So I am going to her May 30th!! My family and friends have not been supportive at along me doing this surgery !! I wish I wouldn't have told them ughhh but dr osunas coordinator Cathy has been super helpful with support!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
