Exhausted!

Hello, I'm 7 days post op and I can't get over this exhaustion!!! My head also hurts. I'm only able to drink water, pedialyte, and very little broth. I saw that I can also drink carnation instant breakfast but can't find any unsweetened. Any suggestions I can't take this!

I ordered a case of carnation instant breakfast from Amazon.

This too shall pass. Seems to me that you are about right on track....Your body is dealing with a lot right now. Be kind to yourself and rest when you need to. Also try Premier shakes. Not bad for being a shake. Try to keep your electrolytes up too.

sip sip sip....

Allow yourself the time to heal. This is part of it all! K :)

Are you getting in all your fluids and protein? I know I'm more sluggish on days I don't get in my liquids. It's hard but push it, you'll feel better for it. Also, in the morning, if I'm slow, I drink some broth (love the wonton soup broth from the Chinese restaurant) and it seems to add the salt or something I need. Hope you feel better soon!

Where can I get premier? And m I allowed to have that? I'm so confused as to what I can have and not. I keep researching thing and some contradict each other.

Protein helps your tummy heal and feeds your muscles while your body is in "starvation" mode. Our body doesnt need to burn muscle, it needs to burn our fat. If you are looking unflavored, Isopure and Unjury both have excellent unflavored proteins. What has your NUT or surgeon set up for what you can have at this stage? I was on liquid the 1st 2 weeks. I just started pureed.

Doctor wants me on liquids! But I'm getting tired of water, crystal light, and pedialyte

What bout jello?? That might help

Protein shakes are on the full liquid diet. Check with your doctor, but having protein powder mixed with some skim milk or juice may help.

Also light yogurt is on the list of clear liquids from my NUT. The Greek has a higher protein count than regular. Just make sure it has no fruit chunks. So stick to vanilla, lemon, lime, etc. after almost a week of water and premiere protein that first bite of yogurt was BLISS.

RJ is right on...you will feel better, you're body is healing right now - you just went thru major surgery.

In response to what your question about what you should have - what did your doctor tell you to have? Every doctor has different directions for their patients, you should follow the diet that you were given. I was self-pay and had a local bariatric doctor for after care - their diets and reintroduction of foods were polar opposites from each other. I followed the surgeon's rules immediately after post op (protein shakes, water, etc), then at 2 weeks when I saw my local doctor, I started following her diet (it was actually a step back from the surgeons).
