thinking of lap bang

Recommended Posts

I couldn't be happier. I can't say one negative thing about my lapband experience. It really is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I've been banded about 4 1/2 months, and have lost 53 pounds since the surgery, and lost 10 before surgery on my pre-op diet, so am down 63 total. It is not a magic pill, though, you do have to work at it. Some people think it doesn't take any effort on their part, but it does. It is definately a lifestyle change. You have to be concious of what and how you are eating all the time, but it is well worth it to me. I would be happy to share more with you, if you would like, you can e-mail me with any questions you have at boonconburns@comcast.net Good luck with your decision.

Sure, I have no regrets over getting my band. I'm at one year post-op and my surgeon says I've lost as much or maybe a little more than the average bypass patient. I couldn't be happier!

My only regret is not having it sooner. I waisted a lot of time being over weight. I am happier then ever and feel like I can do so much more now. I am now just maintaining and I am very happy with that. It is still a lot of work with the band. But it is totally doable now. Before the band I would lose 20 and then gain 30 back. For years I played the yo yo thing. Up and down since about the age of 13. Now I can see that this is going to help me keep it off. I just have to let the band work for me and not work against it. I love my band and would not change a thing. Good luck on whatever choice you make.

I am very happy with my lapband experience as well. My only regret is that my doctor is very conservative at giving fills. He starts really slowly then adds in more and more saline as time moves on. It took me 8 months to finally get to my sweet spot. I am losing 1 lb a week so I am encouraged to keep going. I am a slow loser. I have lost 52 lb in 10 months. 1 more year and I should be at goal. Another 50 please. Julie

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
