Just wondering if there are any sleevers out there who had the surgery with babies/young kids? How did the post-op go for you? If everything goes according to plan, my son will be 11 months old around the time of my sleeve. At almost 6 months now, he's already 22 lbs, which makes him quite the chunky monkey to carry around. Although his weight is stabilizing now, I still worry about lifting and holding him after surgery. Even with my wonderful hubby and other support, I'm worried about my ability to parent without messing something up..

I asked a similar last week... I'm due(pending approval from insurance) to be sleeved 5/27.. My daughter will be 9 months and just weighted in at 23 lbs...(28.5inches) I'm also a little worried for the first few weeks... If I end up going before you I will definitely let you know how it went.

I was sleeved April 17th and my daughter is 23lbs and 18 months. My surgeon told me I was to lift nothing over 10lbs for 6 weeks. The first 3 days home (I'm a single parent) my dad kept her the first night I got home and my sister the next night and I had my mom stay with me for a week. For the first 3 days there was no way I could have taken care of her. My dad and sister live close by so they would help with getting her up and down for bed. I'm 4 weeks out now so I do lift her into her crib for bed time and up in the mornings. I'm lucky she can climb into her carseat and onto the couch. The first 10 days I had a drain and that was also a nightmare bc she would see it and want to pull it and one time she fell asleep on my side while I was on the couch. I got up to answer the door not realizing she was on my drain and I held tight to the tube so it wouldn't be pulled out but the the bulb popped off!! Thank goodness the fluids were contained but that was a nightmare. With help you'll be fine. Good luck on your surgery : )

I just wanted to update you: I'm 4 weeks post op and have done just fine with my baby. She's almost 10 months old- the first few days I did have someone else around to do the lifting and such but I felt real good and had gotten off pain meds quickly and started my walking the day after being home. So far I'm 35 lbs down! ;)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
