Hello everyone, this is my first time posting on here. I am scheduled for sleeve surgery on June 4th so less than 3 weeks away! The closer it gets the more my emotions go into overdrive. I so excited yet am getting more nervous at the same time. I'm hoping it's just the last minute jitters. Anyone have any words of wisdom or tips to give me? I look forward to talking to you guys on here, I will need all the extra support I can get!!!

I am 9 weeks post-op. Just had my 2 month follow-up exam today. My blood pressure is normal and I am down 38 lbs. I am on a normal diet now and that is anything that I want to eat. I follow the nutrition plan but I don't substitute anything for flavor. I use real butter and I drink whole milk. I do use sugar substitute for ice tea and kool-aid. I haven't exercised at all yet. I have a back problem that I am recovering from. I just walk around the house and help out with the kids. I guess that is a workout, chasing after 4 little kids. On surgery day I was nervous and anxious. I am a band to sleeve revision. The surgery took about 4 hours. I felt miserable when I woke up in recovery. It was the anesthesia. After it wore off I started feeling the pain from surgery. I was hooked up to a morphine pump and I had the control in my hand so I used it alot. Whenever I saw it lit up, I would drug myself. You will be up and walking by dinner time on surgery day. They won't let you lay there. There is a danger of blood clots. I didn't have a urine catheter when I woke up. It was removed right after surgery. It was my option, so the doctor went along with it. Walking around after surgery helped me with going to the bathroom also. I was in the hospital 2 days. You have to pass a swallow test before they release you. Just making sure there are no leaks. You'll have liquid pain killer at home. Keep it handy and after about the 5th day you will be feeling pretty good. Some people feel great right away. My pain lingered for a while. My wife took care of me through this whole thing. She is a great woman. I think the main thing is to have someone around to help you the first week. And if that person loves you then that is all the better because you are going to be an inconvienence for a few days. Good luck to you and let us know how you do.

It is great to hear that you are doing well! It helps to hear stories like that because sometimes when I search thei get bet I find scary stories about peoples complications and I am a self pay so that makes me very nervous! I guess the best thing to do is to just focus on the positive since I am this close! That is great that your wife is so supportive, my husband has been with me every step of the way so far so I know he is ready to help me out with this lifestyle change as well. I know I am ready to work hard for this because I have had weight issues my whole life and I am ready for the change! I'll just feel a little better after I'm out of surgery and things are going well!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
