Need to get back on track...ugh!

Recommended Posts

It's been 3.5 years since I've been banded and I think i lost my mojo......It's not new to me anymore so it's not fun and exciting, I feel. Has anyone felt this way? I'm at a slowing point and gained some weight back after i was sickly skinny. But now i feel fat again! And i can't get that motivation again to start loosing. What are some things you did to get back on track?! and find motivation!? Looking for some new ideas because i feel like I'm all out of them!

I initially had surgery February 2008 and lost down to 145 lbs. I just went back under the knife Tuesday May 13 and had a band replacement because my band slipped. I weigh 190 lbs now and I too and looking for the motivation. I actually think I need retrained on the do's and don't. I would be happy to be of support to you. Lord knows I need it as well. :)

I'm alomst at a year post-op so you've both been banded a lot longer than me but my motivation comes from the way I feel.

There's no greater feeling than waking up every morning fearless. When I was over weight it seemed I lived in constant fear; fear of not being able to fit into anything in my closet, fear of going to the Dr. because I didn't want to see the # on the scale because then I had to try and do something about it, fear I would begin having irreversible health issues, fear that my kids would be embarrased of me when they got older, et.c.

Instead now I wake up everyday thankful that weight isn't the first thing on my mind, living life is. I think about what fun things I'm going to exp. with my kiddos today that I wasn't able to do a year ago, wondering what I'm going to wear to work today because everything fits and I have so much to choose from (shopping problems), I love hearing compliments from my husband everyday:-)

I will say fear is not always a bad thing at times I find it's what drives me to keep going, that fear of going back to a place I I never want to be again.

You both have been very successful and you can pick up and start again!

Have either of you thought about going to one of the local support meetings? I would think this would be very motivational and would help you get back on track.

Have you visited your doctor lately?

Go back to the very basics. There was another lady that posted something similar a few weeks ago and I told her if this were me, I would literally go back to the very beginning starting with the pre-op diet your doctor gave you, then move to the post op diet stages, consult with your doctor, get a fill if you need one and most importantly surround yourself with positive supportive people.

You've both come so far and the great news is you're both aware of what you need to do and are asking for advice so that means you still want it and if you want it you will do it!

If there's anything I can help with please let me know.

Good luck and keep us posted on how you're doing!

I'm a year and a half out from banding and had started putting a bit of weight back on during this past winter. When all my new clothes started feeling snug I began to panic!!

I did just what was mentioned above. I went back to basics. Protein shakes, MyFitnessPal, walking etc and the weight came right back off. I'm now pushing for that last 20 lbs. Believe me, the 12 lbs I gained was beginning to make me feel bad and now I feel so much better.

We all know what to do and how to do it!! I wish you all the best and keep us posted!

Glad you went back to the Dr. I have days and meals when I'm hugrier than others or that don't stay with me for the 4 hours, but then other days I can't finish my normal serving? I can message you some recipies if you'd like? I do alot of chicken, deli turkey rolled up with cheese wrapped in lettace leaves with okios greek yogurt Jalapeno salsa dip..yumm:-) I make sure I always have alot of easy go to foods on hand at all time so in the event I don't feel like cooking or something last minute comes up I don't have to think about it.

I will send you a message later this evening with recipies.

I was also banded Nov 28th of 2012. It has been very slow but I haven't gained any weight. Just having trouble with keeping the recipes fresh that are lap band friendly. Wishing there was more of a support group for the maintenence phase

You're not going to lose much weight till your band is adjusted properly and I read where they missed your port. Make them do it under fluoroscopy so you know they're doing it right?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
