2nd fill not feeling any different.

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I just had my 2nd fill last thursday and I am not noticing any difference it terms of restriction. I am wondering if it could be a possibility that the nurse missed my port ? Could she just had injected me saline on my belly? I think about that because my co-worker had a fill with her and she missed her port, then had to pinch her again. I was given 1.5 cc so that makes my band at 5.5 CC filled and I just not filling full. I am losing weight because I stop myself and I am too scared i might stretch my pouch .

I am able to eat everything, breads, Pasta, rice , meats etc.. I do chew well though and stay fuller much longer than I used to before I was banded.

Anyone feels the same way after the second fill ?

Don't worry, fills are just different for everyone. Some people get the right amount of restriction after the first fill, and for some people it takes several fills to get there. Everyone also reacts differently to each fill. Some people feel it right away and for other people it takes a week or two for the fill to really take effect.

It sucks, but right now all you can do is be patient. Stick to the right foods and the right portion sizes and you'll be ok. Getting to the Green Zone is the hardest part. I'm trying to get there too and until we do, it's a lot like dieting, so we have to rely on our own willpower. You can do it though! Best of luck to you :)

Don't necessarily expect that you won't be able to eat these things in the green zone, many can. I haven't found anything I can't eat if I'm careful. Give yourself time sometimes it takes a while to realize a fill.

I have been banded over a year. My doctor is conservative with fills every month. I have had approximately 13 fills. I am just now entering the green zone. It can take time. For some no fills, others one or two and yet some that are totally filled. Also, You probably had some saline put in the band the day of surgery. When your doc/NP put more saline in they draw a bit out first to make sure they hit the port before injecting the predetermined amount they are putting in. I think that is rather standard practice. Hang in there!

Fills are such an individual thing and all about listening to our bodies. To me this is a great thing -- to be in sync with my body again is a wonderful relief after two decades of being in some kind of battle, feeling betrayed by my body, etc.

My surgeon is also of the small frequent fills school of thought and it took me six to get to the Green Zone. Recently I felt like I had fallen out of my Zone -- just hungrier, more capacity, my old restrictive behaviors setting in -- so I got another fill on Monday. I don't really feel it right away. For me it seems to take about almost a week. I will be carefully assessing how I'm feeling, whether I am able to eat real foods chewed well -- no sliders.

It sounds like you are doing really well @@IvonneBX -- keep in mind that this is a time that can be difficult. All the excitement of the surgery is over, things are coming together, the body healed but until the Green Zone is achieved it can feel like a diet. Don't worry -- you will get there! And don't forget how far you've come already. Pat yourself on the back. It's going to be a fabulous summer of weight loss and toning. New chapters in our lives!

I was banded in August of last year. I have not lost any weight since surgery. I really did not start getting fills till end of January because I had to have hernia repair surgery at incision site, so I have had 5 fills of one half of a cc each time. I feel nothing. I am so disappointed. I have not gained, because I am trying to diet. I am feeling like surgery was a mistake.....

@ Countryheart...hang in there. You had a set back due to the hernia, but that is all it is...a bump in the road. Stay the course, keep getting fills and it WILL happen!!! Good luck and keep us posted.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
