sleeved with a baby?

Recommended Posts

I'll be having vsg in a few short weeks(5/27) and at that time I'll have a 9month old little one... Anybody else that was in the same boat... Any pointers you could offer regarding recovery with a baby to deal with?

Keep in mind that you can not lift/carry more than 5lbs at first and then 10lbs for a month. That will be very hard on you so I hope you have someone helping you the first month. If you carry something over the maximum will cause major issues so be careful.

Good Luck with your wls journey!

Fortunately i will have the help of my husband. He's home 3.5 days a week and the other days I am lining up friends and family to come take care of my little one... For maybe the first week or two

I had a 10 1/2 month old when I had my surgery a little over 2 weeks ago, hes 11 months now, he is between 20 and 25 pounds, my husband works nights and sleeps days, so I have been staying at my moms except for his days off, I also have a 3 year old, so I have really appreciated the help while I recover! Though I feel like I can do anything since teh first week was over, and I have lifted my baby from time to time out of habit or necessity, I know I need to take it easy and try not to lift him, my dr. said at least 3 weeks, because originally they said 6 weeks and I couldn't see that happening!

My baby just turned 1 and I have surgery on June 18th. Im super nervous about not being able to lift her, but I scheduled my surgery during summer break so my older kids 12, 10 and 5 can help me out. :)

I wish you luck... I didn't want to wait until she is older and getting around more, so I'm just gonna hope and pray all goes well!

I'm also curious about this. I now have a 19 month old who will probably be turning 2 right around my surgery date. She's old enough to talk and understand me (which is a major help) but she'll be about 30 lbs by then and several weeks without lifting my baby girl will be tough.

To the original poster, I broke my arm when my daughter was 12 mos and I couldn't lift her for a couple of weeks. I had help from my husband and mom, and I also found work-arounds. If your child can crawl and do a little climbing, that will ease your work a lot. You'll figure it out.

A good friend of mine had a gastric bypass when her daughter was 3 (this was 5 years ago or so). She says now that her daughter doesn't ever remember having a fat mom, and she feels good about teaching her healthy eating. It's worth it! The thought of teaching my child how to be fat and the thought of embarrassing her when she's older just kills me. This is the right thing.

My son will be 2 by the time I am approved (hopefully). I don't want him to remember me as a fat mom, either.

I should be getting sleeved this summer and I have a 14 month old (23lbs). My doctor said no lifting more than 20lbs for 6 weeks. My husband is taking 2 weeks off of work and I just pray the other weeks go well. It helps that my baby can walk and do a little climbing. I'm nervous, though!

*Following

I have a 5 1/2 month old who is already 22 lbs! He will be 1 when I'm planning my surgery. I'm hoping that he'll slim down when he starts getting more mobile.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
