My surgeon had me on Optifast for two weeks prior to surgery which was 4/3/07.. Along with Water, crystal light, sf frozen pops, Jello, gum and hard candies.< /p>

It felt like a cleansing in my body and I lost 13 lbs to boot!

Good luck on your surgery.

I had to meet with a dietician for a couple months and loose 10% of my weight which was 21lbps through diet and exercise. Not fun and very stressful to keep it off til surgery. I had gained a few Lbps back from nervous eating just before surgery, but they went through with it without any problems

Doc told me to lose a few pounds before surgery to shrink the liver, but said he didn't care how I did it as long as it was done. I opted for low carb/high Protein.

Nope.

Thank god... lol.

I was just told not to gain any weight. If i stayed the same or lost any.. They'd be happy. They did however just give a sample menu on what to eat the day before surgery.. It had to be a "light" meal. I had a tuna fish sandwich and ramen chicken noodles... and a brownie.. EH - probably not the best thing. But it wasn't too bad!

HI everyone. I'm a first time writer, but long time reader on this site.

I found out today that I was approved for surgery and we set my date for 4/24.

I am so excited and scared all at the same time.

My doctor is having me follow a 2 day clear liquid diet before surgery. I was expecting 4 weeks of something and that all added to the shock.

I had never heard of being on any special diet before surgery until I started reading it on here. The night before my surgery I had a huge steak, potatoes, as much salad as the plate would hold and a beer. I guess if I ever have a problem it could be linked back to that last huge meal. Only kidding of course.

I had to be on a 2 week liquid diet. It sucked, I wont lie. I take that back, the first week sucked, but by the time the second week came around, I was so scared/excited that it didnt bother me. I lost about 7 pounds or so, so that helped with the motivation. I ate a lot of Tomato Soup.< /p>

I have 19 days until being banded! I am one week away from my 2 week liquid diet which includes 3oz of Protein such as fish or chicken. But my doc requires a 2 week post-op diet of clear liquids only! I understand that he wants the liver to shrink so it's easier to retract during surgery. I am little nervous though!!

No, just to keep my then-present weight stable.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
