Day 3 of Pre-Op Diet...thinking, thinking, thinking

Ok...I FINALLY have a surgery date of May 19. It was a long journey to get here and I'm just finishing day 3 of a 2 week pre-op diet of Clear liquids and Protein drinks. It's a challenge for sure. But it has me thinking...if I can do this, pre surgery, why wouldn't I just continue on it and not do the surgery?

I see many people who did lost a decent amount of weight prior to having surgery (doing a 3 or 6 month program), and I wonder why they continued with the surgery if they saw the results?

I know I'm not the only one thinking this way...what was your reason for proceeding with surgery?

Thank you all!

Sounds reasonable to me. Forget what my reason was......if you got this licked, you go for it. -_-

What you are feeling right now is a very common feeling. I did a week pre op diet consisting of clear liquids, and I lost 15 pounds. It got me thinking that if I could lose that much in a week, maybe if I gave it (eating healthier, exercising, etc) one more shot and REALLY focused I could lose the weight without the surgery. I just ultimitely realized that the surgery was my best bet if I want to lose the weight and keep it off. It is a very personal decision to make and you have to do what is right for you. The surgery was right for me and I am happy with the results. :) Either way, sounds like you are doing great on the pre op diet, congrats! Good luck!

I certainly can't say I have this licked. Have tried and lost, regain, and repeat. I guess I just wish THIS TIME would be the time I could make it last. All in the name of pre surgery jitters I suppose.

I didn't mean to make it sound like 2 weeks of clear liquids is easy. Indeed it is not! I am definitely struggling but I'm making it happen which is more than I've done in a long time.
