Has anyone eating food before they were supposed to? Or drink before or after eating? I have. Now, I am getting nervous

We are all hungry. I'm on the full liquid phase, too. Except I'm not allowed yogurt, yet. I also cannot stomach the Protein Shakes. I add half a scoop of unflavored Protein to my Soup (after heating it). That's about the only protein I get besides the soup itself. Your lack of energy is probably bec of the lack of protein. I was like that, too. Once I started adding some to my soup, I had a little more pep in my step. You will also stall if you are dehydrated. Try flavored waters. One girl I know swears by sugar-free sonic slushes to which she adds protein. I'm tempted to try it but scared because I dont know if that will break my NUT plan. Good luck! Get some Water and protein and that 7 (great job on that!) will turn to 17 in no time!

Those sugar free Sonic slushes are not sugar free! The slushes are made from sugar water that is frozen. My daughter who is a manager of one is who informed me about them.

I did. But based on what other people have written I am not the norm. I have never vomited. However a few times I ate to much and then felt like I was going to die. Listen to your body. Don't over do it. I started soft foods at 2 weeks. I am starting week 4 tomorrow and I eat almost anything as long as it fairly soft. And I chew well

I still cannot stomach pot roast or pulled pork at 2 1/2 months. Be kind to your tummy!!!

As for drinking and eating, my surgeon now recommends it. When dh had his surgery in 2005 there was no drinking 1/2 hr before and 1/2 hour after. My surgeon has found that it helps patients to be able to process food better.

Hello. This is my first post. I am two days shy of being three weeks post op. I should be eating Phase 2 foods. I have had pot roast, shaved chicken breast and a one egg omelet with cheese. Yesterday, I also had a few sips of wine.

I also tend to drink a sip or two before and after meals.

Is there anyone who has done this? What was the outcome/

I know I shouldn't be but I keep doing it.

My days consist of: 1 Isopure drink (Breakfast), 1 yogurt for (lunch) and usually an egg and cheese omelet. Nut i had pot roast yesterday.

Thank you all.

Why did you have surgery if you are going to jeopardize your health this way. Very dangerous. At 5 weeks I choked on a tiny piece of soft crockpot chicken. It felt like a HEART ATTACK. Please tell me you are not bragging here, and leading people to think they can endanger their lives by doing what you are doing. Just do not post if you want to lead people to do something to jeopardize their life. This is a serious surgery with serious consequences. Good luck and re-think.

I was told from my surgeon that drinking while eating will expand the stomach and it is possible to expand it back to where I was and make the surgery pointless. As for sticking to the diet, your body isn't ready to break down red meats, you should avoid red meats for at least 3 months and even then stay away from them most of the time.

I made pizza for my kids last night and at two teeny tiny bites. I just confessed. I chewed them about a hundred times. It's so hard I know. We just have to figure out a way to get through this without killing ourselves....because yes we could die from eating the wrong types of foods too early. Death is kinda scary for me right now....I'm ready to live. So I won't be doing that again. We aren't saying goodbye to food forever. This is temporary. I didn't get the sleeve to deprive myself from food. I got this done so that I could enjoy food without overdoing it anymore. The overeating was killing me.

I made brownies today for a celebration. As I was wrapping up the leftovers, a very tiny piece fell off. I went to pick it up thinking, it's just a small piece, it will be fine. But then I stopped myself and said, I have had more brownies than I can imagine in my life and some day in the future I may have another. But there is literally no reason to eat this right now, other to sabotage my hard work.

Finding out what motivates you, what kind of self-talk will get you through the tough moments is the most important thing you could be doing right now.

Think possible leak. Then, them trying to fix it. Time in hospital and pain and agony as you are trying to get better.

Right now your new sleeve is raw from being made. A staple line that has not started to heal yet is being stretched. Even now your body is still trying to get rid of the medications they put in your body during this procedure. Right now you need to be treating yourself with tender loving care. Start working on WHY you are abusing yourself like this and not following the program. You might hurt yourself if you keep it up. And if you stop you may find that you are a lot stronger then you think you are. :)

I agree - I'm at the beginning of my 3rd week and I feel I have wine as my blood but I'm holding out - I am on full liq's and have been fine. make sure to get your Protein in and yes yes flavored watered, vit. Water zero, Propel, Powerade zero. I even had some baby food stage 1 it was ok... I did have extreme creamy creamy mashed potatoes the other day ( my doct told me I could egg's and stuff like that this week) but I actually didn't like the egg's - I ate a little of the potatoes.. like everyone said it's as much mental. just look at it like a short time couple of months diet this is short term for your long term plan. short term sacrifice - it will be well worth it if you can hang on..

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
