1 week post-op...and loving it!

Recommended Posts

I had my VSG done one week ago from yesterday. I did my first weigh in today and I've already lost 16 pounds! I am so excited. My knees already hurt less and so does my back.

Despite the hard diet and lack of energy at times I can't wait for all the good things that are going to come!

Congratulations! ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆SO HAPPY FOR YOU! Thank you for posting such a positive statement for all of us yet to have our surgery! I know there's chances of complications and not everyone has smooth sailing but you have given me hope none the less!

To anyone out there planning on having VSG done, all I can say is DO IT!!!! I have no regrets! I wish I would have done this years ago. Even though I'm tired at times, I'm still doing more now than before my surgery which was 8 days ago. I'm sleeping better, my thinking is clearer, and my overall attitude is positive! I know it's still a bumpy road ahead, but a road I'm glad to be on!

Hello, I will be one week out on Monday. So excited for your success, I am hoping for the same. I am fighting the NO energy beast right now and am really struggling. I am also having some discomfort/pain with everything I swallow (only liquids, but it doesn't matter if it is Water, broth, or whatever) but I am holding on to "this too shall pass". I look forward to seeing how our progress continues.

Congrats, and I agree. Nap attacks are common in the first week or two, but it gets better. A month and a half later, I was working on a fence with a power-washer today. I may have tired out a little to quickly, but I guarantee I feel better than I did before my sleeve.

Hi I'm 7 days post op and feel great! I've been out and about the last two days and ready for work! I do get tired but I feel good! It does hurt when I swallow especially at the beginning but as each day passes it has almost gone away. Each day does get better trust me. Just take it one day at a time and trust in God he will take care of you!

Congrats on your success and recovery. I have the vsg on the 19th. I am having the food funeral this weekend but in my head I feel ready. My body hurts and I am too young to go on like this and I really believe nothing could taste as good as being healthy and thinner will feel. :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
