HUGS suzzieee!!! Forgive yourself and make a better choice next time :) Tomorrow is a brand new day!!!!!

I understand the crap eating too. It's oh so easy to get down. I think it satisfies the need to chew since we can eat more of that stuff. I chew gum a little - I'm scared I'll swallow it and cause big problems!

Maybe I should go back to chewing on pen caps - yummmm; I can't bite my nails any more or I'll chip my tooth again (done it twice now)

Hey all- I don't really post much, but I do read them all. I am happy with my one year- down almost 70lbs, not bad at all. I just started excercising 2 months ago, I didn't even walk a block before now and now I'm working out with a trainer at least 4 times a week. I didn't love it at first, but I really really do now. If I don't go a day I miss it!! That is sooooo not me either, I am a dedicated couch potato. My weightloss is slow right now, but I could use a fill. I am going to wait until summer is closer to being over, I like having the ability to drink a few cocktails. I keep telling myself it's the muscle vs. fat thing. (Or maybe the extra summer "drinks") I would post a picture, but I have no "before" pics, I was always the one behind the camera.

Thanks Wombat!! I agree... about the chewing thing. Sometimes with chicken I can only eat a bit, but if I'm eating chips I can eat quit a bit more and it satisfies the need to chew and CRUNCH something beyond 2 bites. It is a struggle.

My best friend just finished her 3 month mandated diet for her insurance requirements for the band... she is waiting for her approval... and is ALWAYS asking me questions. Lol. I love it really... to have someone in 'real life' to talk to about the struggles with food and stuff. I also think it's good for her to not be going into this thinking that it will be easier than regular dieting, cause it's not... it's really psychological... food and why we eat what we eat.

Ahhhh I'm sorry Suzz. I wondered where you had been. Well all you can do is start over. Don't buy any more stuff. Stock your fridge with stuff you can have. Make some sugar free puddings up....layer with the sugar free whipped topping. Then it will be there when you want something sweet. If you don't have any junk in the house, you can't come home and have it, right? I'm talking to myself here!)

Hello fellow bandsters. I haven't ever posted much, but I haven't even been reading much lately. I am hoping to post and connect with you guys to get and give support.

Since the end of April I have been in a funk. I haven't been exercising and have just been eating crap. But effective this week I am turning back around. I have gained almost 10 pounds during this time and have realized I have got to get back on track. I do not want to gain all of my weight back after having worked so hard to lose what I have. Plus I don't want to be a failure at this. So Monday I had an appt for a fill. I was shocked when the PA was not ugly with me. I totally expected him to, but instead he just said that everybody has rebounds and this is the first one that I have had in a year. He gave me a small fill and told me I should talk with the nutritionist in their office to see how to best tackle my "diet".

So now I am just trying to stay on track. It is so much harder now than it was in the beginning.

Hey guys.

Remember a couple months ago when I posted about the flip flops I was crocheting on? Yeah.. well. I have WAYyyy too many and need to get rid of them. I opened up a shop on etsy.com. If you get bored, check it out - then pass it on. Here is my URL: Etsy :: suzzzie :: Fluffy Floppers

Was at a buffet yesterday for lunch and the lady looked at my id and credit card...looke at my id again, looked at me and exclaimed - you must have lost so much weight.

Hahah

No one has ever said that. Place just opened so there wasn't a crowd.

But my id made years back....over 200 pounds.

137 now.

Hey all! I am very happy about my flight! I don't think I have ever said that before! I did have to tighten my seat belt - about 6-8 inches and I was able to use the tray table with room to spare! At the meeting I got to see everyone from KC - they had nothing but good things to say. I have to say these last 40lbs have made a bigger difference than the first 100, I think. Now if I can just get 40 more lbs off! Not happening any time soon though - I gained 5lbs in Chicago.

I hear you guys about keeping at it. Potato chips and chocolate go down so easy and taste so good. I let my self slide in Chicago and came home to Pringles in my house, once they are gone maybe I can get back at it!

If we made good choices all the time, we wouldn't have needed the band! All we can do it keep trying!

Faith, you are still an awesome daughter whether you are big or small and I'm sure your mother is proud. Look after yourself and I'm not talking at all about your weight. Your value is not tied to it and we all understand that.

Ugh I had to have an emergency unfill last night of 2.0 cc...thought I'd get .2 or .5 at the most......it was 2.0 before I could swallow...then closed off again later. I'm sooooo mad I could spit. WTH? I could drink Water right after the unfill but then later couldn't get any food in, and then couldn't drink anything again. I was up all night throwing up saliva. I'm trying some coffee right now. I'm just so confused what is going on with my band. Nothing like bad timing....I have tons going on and deadlines for my business......can we say S T R E S S??? Anyone else getting tighter from the heat of the summer? Maybe that could explain it.

Thanks Suzz. I haven't been able to get much down today. This makes no sense to me at all. I have to have 2.0 cc taken out...which is basically 4 or 5 fills for me...I am sensitive so I get tiny fills and they make a huge difference. I think I might have to get more taken out. I am so sore. I hope I haven't slipped my band or something. I'm throwing up Water tonight. Ugh.

I know I have not posted in forever, but I do read the boards every day.

I am wondering what has happened to Steph. I loved reading all of her wisdom and advice. Does anyone hear from here anymore, and if so, what is up.

Well, we are all past the one mark now. Have to admit that it is not near as easy as I thought it would be. I have lost over 60 lbs., but wanted to be higher than that in a year.

I seem to be at a standstill now. Going on that way for way too long.

Nice to see that some of you are doing so good.

I have noticed that I am much tighter in the morning now. It takes about 3 hours to get a smoothie down but after that a small lunch and then it feels wide open. I can eat almost anything at night. I don't want to get another fill because I could be totally closed off in the morning.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
