June 2007 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I wanted to let everyone know that I made my first major goal. As of this morning I have lost 100 pounds. These last two months have been hard for me and I am just so happy to be at this point now. Hopefully when I go to the doctor in February I can get a fill with no problems.

Stef - LAY OFF THE AMBIEN! Lol. Seriously, girl, be careful! You could get choked sleepeating...or maybe aspirate while PBing and you could seriously injure yourself or die. I'm worried for you. I know, I'm a nurse and a worrywart, its a bad combo.

OK. So, my band is a fickle lil biotch. The other day I could eat pizza and about anything else I could shovel in. And the past couple days I get stuck easily... and today I slime on my Protein Shake this morning... at lunch I only ate about 4 small bites of veggie chili... and dinner was about 1/4 cup of left over Pasta from the other day - which I got stuck and slimed for about an hour on.

So here is my question, might be TMI, but I'll talk about anything...

I'm on my period. Would that affect my band at all? Maybe I should know this, but I have no clue. This is my first period in 18 months. (Yay PCOS!) So yeah, I'm wondering if you all notice restriction changes during your periods? Maybe I'm just grasping at straws here, Lol. I think I am going to still go to my fill appt on Monday afternoon... I'll get an 'official' weight and talk to the NP about this stuff. She'll be excited I'm menstrating anyway. She's not heard of anyone to not have a period for so long, and here I thought it was common for obese women to not menstrate, especially women with PCOS. ?? Not that I care, I'd prefer to never have a periord - ever ever ever again. Lol.

Oy.

Stef - NO MORE Ambien until you talk to your doctor! Suzzie is right - I would be very concerned about you aspirating while you are sleepeating and PBing.

LadyHR -thanks! I was so glad he didn't want to take everything out. Knock on wood I am still doing fine. I am sure you will get a TON of compliments at your meeting.

nvalicia - CONGRATS - it is a great accomplishment!

Suzzie - I totally can tell changes depending on where I am in my cycle. I don't think it is unusual at all for someone with PCOS to not have a period - I think I only had them because I was on the pill. The only thing that can really control PCOS is - losing weight, so I am afraid you may get them whether you want them or not!

Where do you find the Supreme Protein Bars? They sound too good not to try them!

Stef - Those Ambien episodes sound downright scary! Have you tried taking just half a dose to see if still works but you don't have sleepwalking/eating?

Marlena

Yeah the sleepwalking/sleepeating is freaking me out. Especially since I was attacked by my neighbor Tuesday night....I can't afford to sleepwalk out and his direction. (I TOLD y'all I've had a bad week...you just didn't know HOW bad. I NEED these Ambien right now.)

Here's a link to a list of places that carry the bar. Not to sound repetitive, but you must get the carb conscious one. If memory serves me well, the label should say at the bottom what the NET CARB COUNT is, and I think it is only 6, which is AMAZING.

THE FIRST PERSON TO COME ACROSS THE NEW Peanut Butter FLAVOR IN THE SUPREME Protein Bar SIMPLY MUST BUY ME A CASE AND MAIL IT TO ME!

I will pay all expenses for purchase/mailing/incidentals (Like One Bar accidentally falls out of the box into your pocket! LOL) I THINK THIS BAR WILL BECOME AVAILABLE IN THE SOUTH LAST WHICH ANGERS ME SO!

Anyhow, here is the link to places that carry it: Supreme Protein Retail Outlets

Thanks for bumming me out! Lol. I told a friend of mine last night taht if I was going to have to go through this every month that it wasn't worth losing weight. Haha. OK, maybe that would be a bit of a stretch... but seriously? I've had maybe a dozen periods in my WHOLE LIFE, and I started when I was 12 years old! I might be talkin to my general practitioner about the Pill... and taking it to where it blocks your cycle. Lol. I don't have time for this womanly crap!

Suzziee - I'm so jealous that you've only had 12!!!!!! Mine is truly "the curse". It appears for every major function in my life - wedding day, prom, spring dances, reunions, cruise, trip to Australia, you name it the curse has been there. I tried the pills to regulate - mine would adjust early or late to make sure it could screw up my plans!!!!

I tried those pills that let you have a period every three months. Which was heavenly - but the pills made me depressed so I had to quit taking them. So now I just keep praying for menopause

Steph - please be careful!!! That's so scary! When I get Migraines I don't know what I'm doing or remember either. I end up pulling into my driveway and have no recollection of the drive home. Your neighbor attacked you!?!?!?!? Got a baseball bat?

NVALICIA - woooohoooo!!! That is awesome!!!!

Yeah, my neighbor is a real creep. His nickname in the neighborhood is "the child molester", which he's not (to my knowledge), he's just an alcoholic and super creepy. You could be dressed like an eskimo and when he looks at you it makes you feel naked. YUCK! I love my neighborhood! I just wish he would move...he's only home two days a week, though, so not too awful. Baseball bat? The cops told me to keep my gun handy...I didn't think they usually would say that? I was lucky and I got away from him relatively unscathed, but it was difficult...he really had me. I'm dreading having to go to court on this, but I can't let him get away with it.

Oh, I just now see where they are out of stock... I swear they had them yesterday, but I could have missed it.... have you actually tried the PB, or just WANT to?

WANT to. I LOVE the original, and to take it to the "peanut butter level" just seems too good to be true! LOL

Oh My Gosh Steph!!!!

How awful for you {{hugs}} You will be in my prayers!

Have you ever done Krav Maga? It is a fabulous self-defense class. It's what they teach the Israeli armies (only not how to kill). I put my son through it when he was getting jumped at school. He can now take down an adult twice his size. He only had to use it once in the middle of school and noone ever messed with him again. My husband had to take it with him because my son was too young but they made an exception due to the circumstances.

I know as soon as my daughter is as tall as me then we will enroll and go through the women's course. It's specifically designed to get away from men whether you are on the ground, on your feet, from behind you, etc. It's very empowering and I want that for my daughter. Me too really - I'm only 5'0" and my weights going down so I need to know what to do.

Anyway, {{hugs}} to you again!

My doc does think that the weightloss will reverse my PCOS... and my insulin resistance. For the first time in a LONG time I'm actually starting to think that I might be able to have kids someday. Lol. I'd just given up hope - like when I Was about 18. Lol.

Suzzzie ~ I have noticed a big differene with restriction with my cycle. A week or two prior I seem to be able to eat anything and everything, but the past two days I am getting stuck on crackers and chicken salad. I just haven't even wanted to eat. I've only had 4 fills and I'm at 2.75cc in a 4 cc band.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
