June 2007 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

HI EVERYONE! Great to see your posts. I am a daily reader, so it is great to have some news. It is amazing how involved I feel in each of our journeys even though we have never met.

Nothing new to report for me. Husband still not doing well but surviving. He had is scope of Friday. They were able to pass the scope through his band, so the hole is open, but there was a lot of edema above and below the band. He sees the surgeon on Wednesday, hopefully he will have further ideas on what to do. The good news is he is able to drink cold liquids again, so he is getting some calories in. He has tried some soft solids also, they don't get stuck, but he has severe pain a little later when trying to digest I think. He is very frustrated.

Have a great Monday!

Well I went to the surgeon today for a follow up appt. He did not fill me. I told him that I lost 4 pounds in the last month and he said that is really good. He said remember it is going to take 3 to 4 years to take all the weight off. He told me to tell people to back off if they do not think I am losing weight fast enough. I told him that I thought it should be more but he said no. He said most women come in and demand a fill. I said that I really didn't want one either. I have been having too much stuff stuck and have PB'd a few times. He said once all that passes come back and he will do a fill then. So I guess I am going to be a slow loser. I am ok with that. As long as it is at least a pound a week. It took me 39 years to get all this weight on and it will take a few to take it off. I guess I can live with that.

Well, I got my fourth fill today. A measly .5 CC's. I don't think it will make a difference just like the last one didn't. If not, I will be so frustrated.

Stef...

Cheer up:whoo::whoo:...don't be discouraged!!! Even though it's only a little, your weight loss is good. My doc only recommends 8-10lbs a month. If you've been doing that----GREAT!!! If not, remember it didn't come on overnight:cry:cry...so it won't come off overnight.

Thank of all of the NSV that you've had. Just wanted to give you some encouragement!!!!!:clap2::clap2:

You are right, of course...thank you! I was just frustrated when I wrote that. Now, as I sip on chicken bouillion and can feel it pause at the band, I have hope that this will make a positive difference. That never happened before, so maybe I've got some added restriction. The teeny fill, coupled with coming off of a month-long plateau just had me fired up.

Now for some good news...as you all know (because I shouted it from the rooftops!) I just broke a very long plateau. Thank goodness! The good news is that if my weight continues trending like it is, I will be in ONE-derland in a week or less! My original goal was to get there by August 31, but "that there derned plateau moved in! I thank it be over!" (LOL Gotta have a little fun with you, BigBaby! Thanks, again!)

Hi Stef, I know what you mean about fills. My Doctor only gives out .25 cc at a time. I have 1.5 cc now and still looking fior satiety. I have 1.5 cc and go for a fill on thursday 9/27. Hope it's enough if not I'll make another appointment. Keep your chin up Stef we'll get there yet. Your doing great with your weight loss/ Keep up the good work.

Sheila

By the way...I have to brag...

Isn't my neice GORGEOUS?!?!? I love this new pic my sis sent me. That kid is happy and smiling about 99.9% of the time! She is awesome! Now she has four teeth and starting to walk...can't believe it!

I just went over my daily calories...and I'm liquids, for pete's sake! I ate one of those Del Monte fruit Chillers...so yummy, by the way! Then when I went to add it to my food log, it came in at 190 freakin' calories and a whopping 46 carbs! I thought I was going to faint! Can you believe those little frozen fruity things are so horrible?!?!?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
