I love Fairlife milk and that's the only kind I buy now. You get extra Protein and a longer shelf life. It tastes great (I buy non-fat). What's not to like?

This is a brand called FairLife. It comes in skim to whole and has a lot of Protein. Google it.

I still haven't tried the Kefir yogurt. Wish it came in a smaller container.

Passed all 4 visits required for Medicare. They are submitting for coverage. They said it will take 2-3 weeks to get that back, then they will schedule the esophageial (sp) test (and I'll do the colonoscopy at the same time), THEN finally schedule surgery. I'm still hoping for the end of Sept.

IMHO, 8 ounces of skim milk is very nutritious with:

80 calories

12 carb grams

8 Protein grams

0 fat grams

And Fairlife skim milk's macronutrients are even more attractive:

80 calories

6 carb grams

13 Protein grams

0 fat grams

I have to figure out how to change / edit my info... I've lost 70 lbs now, having a little slow down, but I feel that my body is just settling in to it's new size and that I'll start shrinking again very soon. I did try sausage and a weiner since I asked how they were tolerated by folks, and just as Lady1Put said, I can only eat a few bites, and they didn't bother my stomach at all :)

Thanks. Our food choices will hinge on which nutrients we want to maximize / minimize -- calories, carbs, fats, or Protein.

Yeah true, vsgann...i get enough protien from my eggs meat and cheese. One thing the "fat doc" (surgeon) emphasized...or dictated was "NO liquids WITH CALORIES"

I tend to be a rigid rule follower...

Congrats on the weight loss!

In the Fat Free FairLife you get 80 calories/13 g Protein in 1 cup. When you add some Protein powder you really pump up the Protein content.

I got my goodie bag from the nutritionist today with chewable Vitamins and Calcium plus some unflavored Protein Powder.< /p>

The only Protein Bar I've managed to like is Pure Protein. I got some Pure Protein powder and a shake to try.

Hi Everyone ! I'm 66 and had my surgery 17 weeks ago. Doing good right now and just wondering how much weight you all lost at 17 weeks. I'm down 61 lbs. Losing hair have bat wings and sagging skin on tummy and upper thighs but feel so much better it is all worth it. No Diabetes and Blood pressure meds are cut in half now. Doc says we will do a retest of the sleep apnea in September too !

If you are wondering if you should have the surgery...do it. I was very scared and did not make up my mind till the last the prep but it was truly worth it !!

Sounds like you are doing great!

Right now I'm in the "waiting for medicare approval" stage. I did fill out a pre surgery form yesterday. I think the waiting is the hardest.

Do you have any tips for those of us in the pre-op phase?

Keep in touch

Congratulations on your weight loss and your returning good health. :)

Since you asked, at 17 weeks post-op, I had lost 58.6 pounds -- but had lost 20 of those pounds pre-op.

Everybody loses at the rate they lose at -- even if they're all equally compliant with their surgeons' instructions.

People lose faster post-op if they're male, younger, more muscular than others, heavier to begin with, and didn't lose a lot of weight just prior to surgery.

At the end of the day the only thing that matters or that we can control is what we DO (eating, drinking, exercise, etc.). Our scales will respond appropriately in their own good time. :)

Just got back from vacation. Usually I gain 10 lbs on a vacation. A Breakfast buffet was included in our reservation and each day I ate a little bit of an omelet and a little bacon. I had a Protein shake for lunch. At dinner I usually ate part of my husbands meal or got an appetizer. I knew I ate more than when I was at home but less than on most vacations so I decided I would be really fine with a 5 pound gain. Well, weighted myself this morning and I had lost 3.8 lbs. I'm ecstatic!!! So wonderful to know I can take a vacation and still lose weight!!! I am now down a total of 60 lbs (including presurgery diet.)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
