I AM GETITING BANDED OCT 6TH. YOU HAVE JUST HELPED ME SO MUCH BY LETTING ME KNOW THAT IT WASN'T AS BAD AS YOU THOUGHT. I AM SO SCARED. I AM AFRAID THAT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HANDLE THE PAIN. HOW ARE YOU FEELING NOW? AND HOW DID YOU FEEL WHEN YOU WOKE UP AFTER SURGERY?

Hey Love, some of us had pain, others didn't. I only took pain med for 2 days post-op. But I was pretty miserable for two full weeks after the surgery, but it was from the bloating, gas, and bad diarreah. I had so much toxic waste built up in my system that my guts rumbled and I was poofed out like a blowfish. I got lucky though and picked up a bad bronchial infection, so when I tried going back a week after surgery my boss sent me home so I woulnd't infect my co-workers - DAMN! It was the best thing that coulda happened because band-wise, I was not ready to go back to work in one week. Sitting upright at my desk in clothing was torture. I needed two. Just laying on a heating pad to release the pressure and gas, then walking around, laying down... big baby, I suppose!

After band surgery, a moo-moo and big granny panties were the only thing I felt like wearing. Huge sleepy-t-shirts & nothing around my waist. I even gave up bras for awhile - anything binding was misery. But we're all diffferent.

Hi,

I was also rather worried about "waking up" or being in pain because I had never had surgery before. I just opened my eyes and was in the recovery room and the nurse brought me a wonderful, warm cloth to wipe my mouth with...there was gel on it from the tubes. I was in NO pain...the hospital I went to in Greeley, CO, was excellent at monitoring that. I just closed my eyes and rested more...and then was being taken my room. By the time I got set up in my room, I asked if I could walk and stretch my legs as I had been in that bed all day! They made me wait about another 45 mins and then let me get up. I was FINE. I could feel the tape and it felt a little "jiggly" in my guts...sort of loose in the stomach, but I wasn't afraid to walk or anything. I brushed my teeth, washed my face, swished my mouth with Water, and walked up and down the hall. I did that every few hours all the rest of the day. You will do fine!!! You will be on an IV drip so you can get the pain meds you need...and use them! It won't be as bad as your mind is making it...that is what I learned! You'll do great!!! Good luck! Rose

Welcome to BandLand!!! So glad to hear how well your surgery went. I joined the banded just following you on 9/24.

Your advise about the exercise BEFORE the surgery was great!!! I wish I had exercised MORE...but things still went very well. I can understand how it made things a lot easier.

Congrats and Good Luck to both of us!!! Welcome to BandLand!!! So glad to hear how well your surgery went. I joined the banded just following you on 9/24.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
