It's official!!! I'm banded!!!

Hi!

I have been home a few days now. I got banded on Tues 9/21 by Dr. Johnell in Greeley, CO. I was AMAZED at how much easier everything was than I had expected. I had never had any surgery before, and I think this went great. I'm a tad sore, but not in need of more pain meds. I stayed home all this week from work and will go back to work on Monday. SO, I'm pushing the liquids for now!

Some people are in the pre-op decision stage, and all I can say is this: find out as much as you can, talk to people on sites like this and with others you may know who are banded, and go for it if you are feeling ready!!! I also tried to get in the best shape I could for 4 months while waiting for insurance, etc., and I was doing at least 30 mins of cardio, weights, and 200 abs a day to prepare...and I think my level of fitness paid off! Hospital staff was amazed at how well I did walking, etc.

I was learly of having surgery, and now that I've done it, I can't believe I worried so much about it! I'd do it again in a heartbeat because now I am going to reap the rewards!!!!

Good luck!

Rose

Hi Rose

Congratulations! I'm so happy to hear everything went well for you. You are now officially a bandster! How exciting. You're going to love your band..

Congratulation Rose:banana :banana :banana

Your so upbeat and positive!

Sounds like you've got it all together, don't push yourself tooo hard, it's healing time.

Right on, Rose. What a great, upbeat post. Go easy on yourself. Some of us started feeling better, but then felt worse for a few days, so take it easy and welcome to the other side!

So glad to hear that everything went so well for you. Keep us posted on your progress. Take care and follow those post op instructions.

Woohooo, welcome Rose!! And congratulations on such a good surgery experience! I totally agree that trying to get into better shape BEFORE the surgery is definitely a leg up when the time comes. Can't wait to see how your weight loss goes!

Congratulations, Rose! I think the smartest thing you did was those abs. I know that helped you recoup faster. Take care and don't overdo. We don't want you to relapse. Best of luck!:)

WELCOME aboard the BAND wagon. LOL!!

Hi Rose! It sounds like you and your band are going to have a LOT of success! Congratulations and welcome to this wonderful forum!

Rose,

Pamper yourself this weekend. Don't overdo. Especially since you are planning on going back to work Monday. Take this time to get your liquids in and rest and some walking maybe. And don't plan much besides work this week.. When you come home from work don't have a zillion things you feel you have to do or get done.

I am not banded yet, but I have had many surgeries, so this is would be my advice even if you had had your tonsils out.

SO happy for you.

I am trying to imagine getting down on the floor to do those abs you did. What a gal. You rock. Cause I am sure that helped you tremendously.

Congratulations! And the getting in shape idea makes tons of sense, I think I'll incorporate it into my plans.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I AM GETITING BANDED OCT 6TH. YOU HAVE JUST HELPED ME SO MUCH BY LETTING ME KNOW THAT IT WASN'T AS BAD AS YOU THOUGHT. I AM SO SCARED. O AM AFRAID THAT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HANDLE THE PAIN. HOW ARE YOU FEELING NOW? AND HOW DID YOU FEEL WHEN YOU WOKE UP AFTER SURGERY?
