help I'm up 13 pounds

Recommended Posts

I just celebrated my 2 year anniversary and I'm up 13 pounds. I've been struggling with snacking and can't seem to motivated to get back on track. I've started exercising again but it seems like one day the scale is down and the next day up. Need some advice and encouragement

I'm still in my first year, but if I were u, I would go back to basics. Go back to a Protein shake/liquid Diet for a week or 2. Maybe go back to your nutritionist?

You hit the nail on the head when you said the word snacking....No WLS is going to work unless you fix the reasons why you are sabotaging yourself. Fix the brain and you will fix the body. If you have to snack pick a couple of almonds. Or some raisins. Nothing junkie. High calories and no benefits to body health at all.

What you have is a tool. Not a fix it all! You have to be a driven person to do this. And continue for the rest of your life or you will find yourself back to what you started as. This information is not new to any of us. It is for me as well as you. We are in this together. It could be me later on...

So breath deep, regroup and get it together kid. Okay...Back to basics and dense Proteins and stay away from carbs unless complex okay. Keep up the exercise and don't weigh yourself every day...That just discourages you more.

We are all struggling with this demon in our lives. You are not alone no matter what surgery you chose. Basically....we have to see it as a tool and not a fix...We have to fix ourselves a long the way!!! :)

I had the same thing. I'm two years out this month and am up 23 lbs (was 26). It's been very slow losing it and hard to stay focused but I'm getting there. Anyone know how many grams of protein/calories we should have at this stage of the game?

At three years out I was up what I considered a significant amount. I had to go back to basics - Protein first, going low carb and tracking calories. I very rarely feel any restriction at this point.

At three years out ... I very rarely feel any restriction at this point.

This surprises me. Does everyone with a WLS experience a noticeable lessening of their restriction over time? I'm only 10 months out but I still feel full on portions that would have been an appetizer pre-surgery.

Almost 2 years out. I can eat 1/4 -1/2 cup max.

I'm so glad you posted this question.

I am exactly like you...2 years out and I too have gained a little weight..nearly 7 pounds

I feel like I can eat so much more and it takes me longer to feel full.

Are you a snacker?

I'm finding that at night time I am always going looking for something sweet.

I also sometimes have a few sips of something to drink with my meals at night time.

Can you pinpoint exactly what you are doing differently? I've also just had a months vacation which I think mentally has given me the green light to overeat.

@@lemonpoppyseed2013 which surgery did you have? VSG? I don't think I have heard of that kind of stretching with VSG. I think most people who eat more do it by eating more often/grazing. Have you been back to your surgeon recently? Maybe you should check in with him/her.

Why did you stop exercising? There's no magic words or deeds needed. Eat right & exercise regularly. Stop making bad snack choices.

I actually had the Gastric Sleeve.

I was actually thinking of going back to my surgeon...I haven't been back in over a year.

I also had a gastric sleeve, and I can eat 1.5-2 cups, too. I make an effort to keep it between 1/2 and 1 cup, though. I don't go over very often, but the once in a while if I don't consciously restrict myself, I am shocked that I can eat like that.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
