I was sleeved on April 15,2014 and was just curious how others went about their two week full liquid diet. Did any one slip up and eat something that wasn't necessarily a full liquid? I know it's ideal to follow the diets they give you but I didn't know if people progressed as tolerated.

Stick to the plan! Picture the staples, holding your new seam together while it heals . Let it heal. I'm sure there are some who jumped ahead, but don't risk it . I was so sick of the liquid diet, because it was pure sweet. broth gagged me. All I wanted was plain cream of wheat. But I didn't consider going against the dr.

Just hang in there ! You can do this !

I will say that in 2009, following my lapband surgery, I cheated after 1 week of my post op diet. I was single and it was easier to cheat than now, being married to the "food Nazi". Plus I was paranoid at getting a leak post op so that kept me on the straight and narrow. I was on full liquids for 4 weeks tho. I just started getting my hunger back at 2 weeks so that wouldn't have been such a problem for me.

By the time I started my soft diet at 4 weeks, I could've eaten my arm. I was never one of the lucky few to lose their hunger for a long period. I did it tho, staying on my full liquids for the full 4 weeks. I knew my hubby would've tattled on me at my 4 weeks post op visit! He had an eagle eye on me (I even accused him of setting up cameras in the kitchen to catch me!) and wouldn't even let me eat Jello the first week cuz it was too "solid"

Good luck to u. This is defintely the hardest part of the journey. Once u start eating solids again, u will fill more easily and the focus will be taken off ur constant hunger. I promise, it WILL get easier!

Oh, and so many people post that u can talk to ur dr about progressing ur diet early if u ask. I emailed my nurse at 2 weeks and heard a big "NO". So that was that!

I can only recommend that you chose a surgeon and trusted him to operate on you and lead you through this. Please do not try to accelerate anything. Your stomach is swollen and healing from surgery. I was told I could have soft crockpot chicken cooked in FF Soup at 4 weeks - I choked on a small bite of chicken and never want to go there again. This will be so worth it. Trust the people here why try to guide you and teach you from their experiences, some good, some bad.

It wasn't so bad for me, but my nutritionist included things like sugar free pudding, fat free yogurts and cream Soups with chunks strained out in our full liquid plan. They advanced me after one week, but I was so terrified to eat anything I even put off eating yogurt for two whole weeks and ate mostly broth!

I'm 3 weeks out & I haven't followed the diet guidelines but what you guys have said made sense. I can't stomach another Protein shake for the life of me. I have already had nuts, steak, etc but I've also had a lot of pain & nausea after eating just a little bit. You guys have made me think that maybe I should slow it down. The only thing I won't change is swallowing pills. I have stopped all my meds except for the ones I need & only if they are small tablets. The crushed pills are just too bad. I have been swallowing whole tablets for about a week now & before that I was cutting them in 1/2 or 1/4's. I started refusing the meds in the hospital unless they would it in my IV.

Gosh I'm in week 9 last 40 or so and I just this week started to eat a small portion of steak. I still had a hard time with it. I can't imagine eating timat 3 weeks.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
