Insurance and waiver of waiting

Has anyone ever had their waiting period waved? My insurance has the 6 month medically supervised diet as one of their many criterias. I made my plea and wrote to the begging for them to waive it or cut it in half due to concern for my health problems. They stated that I could have my doctor call and if he believed it was urgent and it should be waved then my case would be evaluated. Has this worked for anyone?

That's so weird I have bcbs too but of course It's thru NY so of course it has to be more difficult. I feel like the rest of you - I'm a ticking time bomb- you would think that insurance would realize it will just cost them more money in the long run and for what- some smug medical directors that have probably never had a weight problem in their life. I guess I'm just mad that the insurance has this control... Even when it's medically advised- it's crazy! To me six months is too long and I'm frustrated about it! Hoping my doc will be an advocate for me and at least try but it doesn't seem like docs really put in the extra effort anymore.

I know this post was from 2014, but how did that go?
