Hair loss and now gallstones:( Yikes!

Recommended Posts

I'm 9 months post op, 98 lb. weight loss and was feeling wonderful until last Monday. I had just had my Dr. visit on Friday, and everything was great! Except my Hair loss is getting worse and so noticeable:( Has anyone had success with stopping hair loss?

After dinner on Monday night I had a trip to the ER after having a severe gall bladder attack. I thought I was having a heart attack! So scary! It has calmed down, am now following a vegetarian diet plan. I see my surgeon on Wed. so I guess the decision will be made about GB surgery. As of now, I don't know how many gallstones I have. My regular doctor told me one was 4 milliliters. I would live to hear from any fellow gastric sleevers who have had these problems too.

My hair loss slowed considerably when I added an Iron supplement at night. Don't know if it was a coincidence but it works for me.

Sorry to hear of your gallbladder issues, hope all goes well.

I'm sorry to hear of your gallbladder issues and am wondering if you took a gallstone preventative medication at all after surgery. I am taking Actigal which is supposed to help prevent gallstones. I am hoping that it works.

I am 8 months out and have the same issues. I have no suggestions for hair loss. I take Biotin, but it is still coming out. I chopped my hair off in December because I was sick of my long hair clogging the shower drain every other day.

I had my gallbladder removed 3 weeks ago. Those attacks are very scary! I thought my stomach had twisted or something terrible like that. I talked about the options with my surgeon and we decided it was best to come out. He said the recovery would be similar to the sleeve, but I think it was way easier! I felt like my usual self in 1 week, except for bending and twisting. Good luck!!

I had my gall bladder out 5 years prior to the sleeve. I thought that surgery was easy to recover from.

Wife had gallstones and pancreatitis!! She had antibiotic drip, ducts cleaned out and gallbladder removed. I guess there is a trend developing.

911 to hospital discharge was 5 days.

Wife had gallstones and pancreatitis!! She had antibiotic drip, ducts cleaned out and gallbladder removed. I guess there is a trend developing. 911 to hospital discharge was 5 days.

I had the same issue except I've been here for 19 days in the hospital. It took one trip to the er for then to come to the conclusion it was gallstones and the dr sent me on my way with pain meds and said to get in contact with my dr! Well the next day I went to see my actual dr scheduled an appointment on Friday. The Wednesday before my surgery date I had the worst gallbladder attack and was admitted. They had to wait 2 days before even doing surgery because my infection was so high!!! That Friday they went in and removed my gallbladder then a few hours later tried to remove the stones from my duct. Needless to say it was so swollen the dr wasn't able to get in and poked and prodded for 2 hours when it should have been a 1 hour surgery. I then developed one of the most servers cases of pancreatitis they have seen. Worst pain of my life morphine wasn't touching it!! Needless to say if you find out you have gallstones get that gallbladder out ASAP! I hope all is well (:

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
