Hello wise ones...what are some of the things your packing in ur hospital bag. For all the veteran Sleevers what did u find was a must have while ur in the hospital?

So far I've decided to take:

Longer length night gown

Robe

Slippers

iPad

iPhone

Chargers

Multi socket extension cord

Pillow with colored pillow case

Gas-X thin strips

CPAP machine (sigh)

Hey Curvy,

When's your surgery date?

Hey girl! Remember they changed me to April 14th and it's just 15 days away.
Ah you're in the homeward stretch! Well I'll be reading your posts with a rather envious shade of green until July. Go get 'em!

The only things needed was the following:

Baggy clothes and slip on shoes to wear to the hospital

Chap stick

Brush, comb, lotion

Toothbrush and toothpaste

Cell phone ONLY

You leave with the same clothes you come in with.

Good luck!

Did you pick out your own shake or are you using a physician supplied one?

I way over packed. Didn't use my gowns at all. It was much easier using the hospital gown with all the iv's and heart monitors. Used the hospital socks and only used cosmetics the day I was discharged. They wouldn't let me shower until the. Morning I left the hospital. Took but didn't use Gasx, walking was much better.

I've heard the gasx will not work because it is a different type of gas?? Any truth in this?

That's what my surgeon said. I tried it when I got home anyways and it didn't work.

It will not work for the gas they fill your abdomen with because it's in your abdominal cavity, not your digestive tract. Only walking will help with the surgical gas. However, I did get quite bloated with actual intestinal gas a few days after surgery and the GasX did help with that. Used it 1-2 times a day for a couple weeks till my GI tract settled down and got used to digesting stuff again. The Pemix I was given postop helped with that, too since it increases GI motility.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
