Hi monymo,

No, He did not "scope" I did and xray drinking that white liquid and they found no restriction. Dr fill the band with 7cc then checked it 6 weeks later and it still had around 7cc however the saline was yellowbrownish. I have just read an article about leaks and maybe its a leak. I hope it is not eroded

Hi, has your surgeon scoped to see if your band may be eroded? Sometimes when you lose your restriction, that can happen. Good luck. Mona

Same thing has happened to me!! Lost about 80 pounds great weight loss with the band but I do admit, I wanted it tight so that I would not eat and now after 4 years, dilation and all Fluid out, gained 20 pounds now on the way back up - have been filled twice but restriction is nothing like it was. Watching very carefully what and how I eat because I do not want to get dilated again. What results are you having Kaye Kaye and Ruby????

Ruby , I hate to hear this happen to you, I am in the same boat as you I weight the same as you I'm 5 7 and have been banded since 2007 July I HAVE never had any problems till now I just have my fill taken out about. 4 months as my dr requested and I have put on 40lbs I am so mad at my self . I had gotten down to 142-145 went from a size 22-24 to a size 6-8 I was ecstatic never been that small in my life I was so proud of myself worked out 2 hr a day 7 days a week then all HECK BROKE LOOSE like what happen to you . I have an appt 4/14 to go try another fill if this doesn't work he want to remove it and replace it with the sleeve I told him I don't have $14,000 to do that my insurance doesn't pay for it I would like to see how Ur fill goes if u would like u can email me at mcdkaye66@gmail.com hope all goes well

Have a great day : DKAYE

What happened when you went back on 4/14? Sorry, i have been missing from this post as I had a different surgery and was not on the web for awhile. I don't have 14k either. I want my band to work. My problem happened when I had salmonella poisoning last year. I was vomiting all the time. i believe that was when I started not feeling restriction.

I am hoping there is a solution to my problem and my band can be fixed.

Oh man I wish I could get a refill in six weeks. Why does my doctor make me wait three months? Anyway, it is horrible to be hungry all the time, but I signed up for this for the long term, right? And that means that I have to deal with this unfill in a responsible way. But man I hate being back in the preband mindset...hungry, trying to finding foods to fill me up so I don't go for the calorie-laden treats. I give myself permission to recognize that THIS IS HARD and I need to keep myself busy, away from my kitchen, and keep looking at myself in the mirror. I will do everything that it takes to just maintain my loss right now. I don't want to have to lose it yet another time. Courage to all of us as we wait this out.

t

This is one of the hardest long term life lesson I have ever experienced. Even 7 years out. A little too loose and I regain. Sigh. Don't want it too tight tho part of me loves losing weight absolutely. Back to the dr

hi I agree with 2muchfun and lisacaron , things change , regular checkups are a must ; I have only last week gone to a new bariatric provider as unhappy with new consultant who I felt was not listening to me after my surgeon left ; having to pay privately anyway may make that option far easier for me ; I know stress can effect things it has with me but my latest adjustment with new clinic seems to have made a huge difference for me so far . I you haven't had a checkup/fill for sometime maybe now is the time to make another appointment and if like me fill your not supported see if you can go elsewhere . Goodluck and don't give up xx

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
