March 2014 Sleevers

Recommended Posts

My date was March 21. I'm down 60 lbs. very happy with that but this last month has been slow. I watch EVERYTHING I eat, walk 3 miles 3-4 times a week yet I'm really struggling going down any more. I'm still at around 600 calories. I'm still40 lbs away from where I want to be. Any suggestions? Oh and my hair is falling out like crazy.

Hi, I was stalling big time, it turned out I wasnt eating enough, go figure. I loose best getting in about 800 calories, maybe it is worth a try. My Hair loss was really bad for a while, it is now slowing down, thank goodness.

Thanks I'll bump up the calories and see if that works. How long before the Hair loss slowed?

How is everyone doing? Just hit my 6 month mark on the 5th. Down ~115 lbs and stalling. Figured it would happen the closer I get to goal though. Gonna start incorporating more exercise and see if that helps.

Hope everyone is doing great :)

Hi all I am just over 5 months out and down 87 from my highest. I have been at this weight for the past 3 weeks and am getting very frustrated. My birthday is this Saturday the 13th and I was hoping to be near my goal by now but it is not happening. I am getting very frustrated. They said it is normal to just switch things up so that is my plan. I will be adding strength training to my workouts to help build muscle witch they say speeds up the metabolism. I hope this works cause I have more to loose. Well hope everyone is having a great day.

It Has been a while since mt last post hope everyone is doing well. I have finally reached 100lbs down in less than 8months. I had 2lbs that would not get off inthe last month and I got a new trainer and he has really jump started my loss again. Helping to get those 2 plus pounds off. I am so happy. Just 29lbs left to my goal and I hope to be there by Christmas cant wait.

Anyone else losing at a snail's pace?!!! I swear I've been trying to lose these 10 pounds to finally get into "onederland" for more than two months now! I really thought this would be the week but nope, not yet...LOL...I'm happy that I am able to eat and still be losing but come on, it's SO close! Just thought I'd share my frustrations...anyone with some tricks up their sleeves? :)

I started doing high intensity work outs and that helped me. I am back to 1- 2lbs a week with my work outs.

Yeah, working out just might be what I need...in the summer I was riding my bike a lot but now that I'm back to work, I have little time to do it, plus it's getting cold. Maybe I need to suck it up and use the elliptical/clothes rack in my room. So hate exercising like that--much rather be doing something physical.

Slow losses here too, but I'm Okay with that and I know that pumping up my physical activity would improve my results. My. body feels so much better getting 80+ lbs off. I'm still 50 lbs from my ultimate goal. My next mini-goal is 100 lbs loss, I'll be there by the end of January at the latest. I remember Holiday seasons past where I would dread what the scales would do. So far my biggest worry is what to wear.... Lots of xxx clothes have been donated.....

Same here. Just about none of my clothes fit. I am now a size 12 from a 22 down 103. The smallest size I have in my clo5is a 14. Time to make room for that size 10.

I just yesterday went through my closet and got rid of all my old clothes...I haven't fit in most of them for some time now but couldn't bring myself to give them away...I am so scared that I will gain this weight back...I still have another 40 pounds to my goal weight...not sure that I'll make it there by the one year mark, but as long as I'm still losing I'm happy.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
