Just a quick introduction. Like many of you, Ive struggled with my weight; yoyo dieting, diet pills (off the shelf and prescription) numerous weight loss clinics, etc. Now that I am a little older, I find it even harder to lose weight, and stay healthy (my knees hurt, I'm tired all of the time). Im tired of losing 40, gaining 60. I honestly believe I have totally screwed up my metabolism from all of the torture i have put my body through.

I contacted the my local bariatric physican, attended the seminars, did all of the insurance requirements, and ended up paying 100s of dollar in copays and uncovered medical expenses just for the insurance company to deny me. (BCBSIl - no proof of trying to manage high blood pressure.)

Anyway, i received a quote yesterday to get a VSG locally for $19,000. Self pay option. I can't swing that.

Mexico it is.

I would have but I started a new job 2 weeks later where I am a contract employee which means no benefits or insurance. I was supposed to be hired on as a regular employee after 90 days but that has came and gone because of hiring freeze.

Welcome Nic! I also live in Orlando I had my sleeve done at Celebration hospital last August. When is your surgery date in Mexico?

I do not have a date or dr just yet. The whole thought of going to Mexico came up Friday night when I spoke with Dr.Kim and Dr.Marema's office about self pay options that turned out to be almost 20 grand out of pocket.

Dr. Kim was my doctor. Great staff and hospital but it is very expensive. I wish you the best of luck on your journey. Please stay in touch it is always nice to have someone near by that understands what you are going through and to offer support
