Recommended Posts

Hi everyone ... I am new to this forum but I am glad I have joined it ... I am 30 yrs old radiologist, weighing 216 pounds... Already having degenerative changes in my knees ... Somehow have convinced my parents for this surgery... I have been told to go on Protein Shake + liquid diet 10 days prior to the surgery ... Anything else that I need to take care about ...

I havent been told about a liquid diet until after but I did find a great recipe site for the Protein Shakes you may want to look at theworldaccordingtoeggface. She has all kinds of recipes on there. I dont like the plain flavors of the shakes so far. Another thing that I have scene on multiple sites is gas-x strips and a small pillow for when your in the hospital. My surgery is scheduled for April 16th. Good luck! Im sure your going to do amazing! :)

My surgery date is 4/10 as well. I'm converting from lapband to gastric sleeve. I'm excited and hopefull that I can get the weight off that I have regained over the past few years.

not really. I am limited some because of my lapband. I go for pre-op, education class, and hospital pre-reg 3/26. I'm going to do the 2 week liquid diet whether its recommended or not. Just figured I can start getting adjusted to it.

I found the liquid diet the hardest part. 1 week of clear fluids the first week post op. Once you make it past that, it gets way better. I also will warn you that I did not do well with the anisthesia. I was sick my first 3 days. Once it wore off I was super! Absolutely no pain at all. Best wishes to you!

I'm also April 10th. I'm very nervous about the pre-op diet that I have to start in a few days. Good luck to you, soon we will be on the losers bench. :)

Only one week? lucky you. I have to start mine on the 27th 2 weeks before. But because I know Im such a slow loser I started yesterday. I have been trying to cut back ever since I heard I was approved and did not lose a single pound. So I figured Ill start this liquid thing early so in case I slip at least I got a couple of days to adjust to the "real thing". So far yesterday I felt hungry in the afternoon. And I had like 3 sugar free popsicles but that did not do much so I had a little bit of Peanut Butter and Water and that calmed me down a little, That and then I went to bed early so I would forget about the hunger.LOL

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
