Sleep Apnea or No Sleep Apnea - that is the question

Recommended Posts

I have a question that I'm hoping someone out there can answer. Since my BMI is right under 40, my Surgery Coordinator says that I need to prove a comorbidity, like sleep apnea in order for my insurance to cover WLS. Since my cardiologist had recommended that I have a sleep study done, I did. The sleep technician told me ahead of time that if my sleep apnea was bad, she would wake me at 2am and put the CPAP machine on me. Well, needless to say, mine wasn't bad because they didn't have to wake me and hook me up to CPAP. When I asked her in the morning if I was snoring, she say "Oh Yeah", but when I asked her if I had any apnea, she said she couldn't tell me. She did say if I did it wasn't bad enough to do the split study, but she did say that I was going to have to come back in for a second night and sort of gave me a look like I should know what that meant. Well, I don't. So my question to you guys is, in your experience, since I've been asked to come back in, does that mean I have sleep apnea. (She said test results could take 2 weeks- and I'm curious)

Not sure, but I believe if you had no sleep issues they wouldn't ask you back for another night!

I had my sleep study done a few years ago but I remember this thing happening to me. Something about the apneas not showing up really bad - the second night test is a different way for them check your sleep. I do have sleep apnea and currently sleep with a CPAP machine.

It is normal - I just wish I had more info to give you

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
