June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

Recommended Posts

I went to the gym and did a full arm workout and then did 20 minutes on the treadmill. It felt so good to finally get to do something besides just walking. Today is legs so hope it goes just as well. :)

Hi all. I go for my 6 week follow up on Monday. Will update everyone as soon as I get home. Feeling good. Been using treadmill and doing some arm exercises. Hopefully doctor will let me start working on legs and abdomen.

Hi I have a rather curious question if anyone knows: what happens if one eats chicken three weeks post-op? What effects does it take on the pouch and staple line?

I ate chicken a couple weeks post surgery. First puréed and then very well chewed. No problems.

I was allowed to eat chicken 3 days post op, just had to be fine, like put in the food processor. Now 5 weeks out, I can eat grilled chicken , just chew it well, you'll be just fine.

Thanks for the response, I greatly appreciate it. Living in a foreign land makes it difficult for me to attend support groups like we have back home(Texas) I really appreciate this site!

I had surgery 6/5 and have been at a stall for almost 3 weeks. Eating under 850 cal, getting between 60 and 70 gm of Protein and under 40 carbs. Drinking mid 50 to 60 liquids a day. I am really frustraited. 5 1/2 weeks out and only down 20 lbs. any one else on a stall?

My surgery was on June 4 and I have the same problem. I was stalled for 3 weeks after losing about 17 lbs my first 2 weeks. It was just a few days ago that the scale went down 3 lbs, yesterday it was back up by 3 lbs and then today it was down 4 lbs. I know weighing myself everyday is a bad idea but I can't seem to stop doing that! It is very frustrating. I have another post op appt w my doc on Thursday so not sure what she will say. Based on what I have read here it will probably be to just keep a food diary, exercise and be patient! It is very hard to do though.

i had surgery on 6/18. I know it's hard not to weigh every day but it's the only way to have sanity about this process.

What if I'm taking in less than 500 calories per day and still losing slow? I Aldo walk 5-7 days per week 3-5 miles per day? Its tough but eventually the scales will again. Had a rude co worker ask me.....so when are you gonna start seeing results from your surgery? Lol! I told her my weight and its within 20 pounds of hers......wonder how slow she'll think it is once I lose 30-40 more pounds. Patience is key, I suppose.

Its one of the reasons I prefer not to tell people beforehand......its like everyday they see you, the expect for you to have lost 20 more pounds or lose at their pace. Last I checked this was my journey. I'm so glad to have bariatricpal as a resource to communicate with people going through the same things I'm going through. I had lapband in 07 and only lost 40-50 pounds, now 7 years later revised to gastric sleeve and its been exciting and scary at the same time. I just keep praying and doing what the doctor says....hopefully this time will be successful.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
